Accessing the printer software You can access the printer software from most Windows applications, or from the Windows Start menu.
When you access the printer software from a Windows application, the settings that you make apply only to the application you are using.
When you access the printer software from the Start menu, the settings that you make apply to all of your Windows applications.

From Windows applications

Follow the steps below to access the printer software.
Click Print or Print Setup on the File menu. In the dialog box that appears, click Printer, Setup, Options, or Properties. (Depending on your application, you may need to click a combination of these buttons.) The printer software opens.

From the Start menu

Follow the steps below to access the printer software.
For Windows Me, 2000, NT 4.0, 98 and 95 users, click Start, point to Settings, then click Printers.

user tools>system settings>admin> address book then select the user and you can scroll down or goto authentication and change the password.
if you cant get into admin try the username administrator with no passowrd or service with no passwrd

Error 5


Windows Vista or Windows 7 users may experience a Printer Error 5 when attempting to print from your MYOB software.
To overcome this issue, turn OFF the User Account Control (UAC) in Windows. See below for instructions.
Note: Our support note Printer error messages, definitions, and solutions can be used if you are not using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and are receiving a Printer Error #5.

To turn off UAC in Windows Vista

-Close out of your software.
-Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel.
-In Windows Vista click User Accounts and Family Safety.
-Click User Accounts. You may need to select a User Account, if so, choose any account.
-Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
-You will be prompted with a window entitled Windows needs your permission to continue. Click Continue to this message. If you are not setup as an Administrator user on this machine, you may be prompted to enter a Administrator Username and password.
-Deselect the option Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer then click OK.
-You will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Restart Now.
-You may get a warning to Check your computer security. This is a standard message that Windows recommends User Account Control to be always turned on.


To turn off UAC in Windows 7

-Close out of your software.
-Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel.
-Click User Accounts.
-Click Change User Account Control settings.
-Click and drag the slider to the lowest position, in other words Never notify.
-Click OK.
-Restart your computer to complete this change.

Lost user authentication in the Printer driver software


I am assuming that each person ahs its own authentication, so check and make sure that each person is logged inside the machine under Adimistator Settings, check their accounts are set up

and select your version of windows and then download the relelvant software. Make sure that you are logged on as an administrator or a user with administrator rights, other wise you may not be able to download or install programs, depending on what blocks you have put on for users. Generally the person who created the original user account on a new computer is an administrator and all other users created after this will have to be created as either an administrator (full rights) or a standard user which will have limited rights.

Administrator problems


You may be the primary user but your user account may not have admin rights. This is a little unusual in Windows since most users have admin rights by default (this isn't a good security practice, but Windows tends to do this anyway).

I did a quick search of the web and discovered a set of instructions that will allow you to log into your Windows computer (assuming you have Windows XP) with admin rights. Once you do, run the software again and see if it works. If it does, you're ok. If it doesn't then the problem is with the HP software and not your user rights. Good luck:
