Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player

1 Answer

MWD2205 I am trying to run a JVC hard drive Camcorder into the VHS portion so I can copy what I have on VHS tape. I can't get it to work. The instructions in the Camcorder's book says to put the VCR to it's AUX input mode (but there's no AUX input on the VCR that I can find). So how do I get the VCR to record what's coming from the Camcorder? Thanks! gaia33

Thank you soooo much for the user manual link! My camcorder only has one jack that plugs into the camcorder then it splits to plug into the back of the VCR. I had the yellow and white plugged in the right place on the VCR, though, and had the camcorder on playback with the VCR recording--just didn't record anything. Could it have something to do with the camcorder not being analog? And why does the camcorder instructions say to make sure the VCR is in "Aux" mode?

Thanks--it must be some other problem. That isn't working, but I appreciate the help.

I lost my remote to my magnovox mwd2205 dvd/vcr player. I got a GE universal remote but, it only controls the vcr part. I can't make any selections from the dvd playlist or even play, stop, ff, or rewind. Nothing. How can I use my dvd player??

Please check page-14 of user manual of Funai MWD2205 VCR/DVD Combo for recording in VCR from Camera or some thing else as external source.
Here you can download User Manual for your unit, in case you dont have it.
Need further help, let me know and post here.
Thank you.

"Aux" is generic word were used few years back for input.. Now "Line" word is being used in these products.
Check your camera out put by hooking up yellow and white wire direct to tv input and make sure that this wire is ok and camera picture is ok in tv. After that connect it with vcr line-1 or line-2 You also need to select source (thats is VCR) in your vcr/dvd combo and then select line input etc.
Please read manual as it has all necessary info about recording.
    Thank you.

My JVC DR-MV150B plays prerecorded VHS tapes fine.

Try opening the front hatch of the tape by pressing the small, square button on the right or left (short) side of the tape. Check the black tape inside for any marks, dirt, scratches, tears, etc. If the tape is fine then your unit needs to be cleaned with a tape cleaner available at any electronics specialty or retail store. Good luck to you!

How do i go about transfering vhs-c video from an

You have several options. But important one to understand is the limitations of a PIII computer like Armada e500. You may not have enough grunt to convert stuff, even after buying the necessary video capture devices which work on USB.

Also I am assuming you either have the jvc camcorder still available or atleast have a VHS-C to VHS adapter to play the tapes on a standard VHS tape player.

Unless you are having a lot tapes and need editing while converting, your better bet might be to go to one of the shops that convert these tapes on to DVD or a suitable flash drive which might work out cheaper and quicker.

The last time I did this thing (quality of my VHS-C tapes was bad) I bought a Samsung combined VHS Video / DVD recorder and used the dubbing feature to burn DVDs. Cost me about $150 a year ago. I was able to do some editing on the way as I was connected to the TV screen as well. Saved me the hassles of dealling with the PC type video capture devices and software.

I video taped a wedding and am trying to copy from my camcorder "VHSC" to VHS RECORDER - PROBLEM IS I AM GETTING AUDIO BUT NO VIDEO when i try to replay from vhs tape on VCR

I can only believe that you did not connect everything (the yellow video cable) correctly.

Tape to tape copies are normal and typical. Please consider retrying - and just do a few minutes of test video to confirm that it is working.

If you were doing a digital translation, I could understand a problem - but VHS to VHS should be a straight copy.....
Let us know how the test works. (BTW, I had a bad quality video cable - and had to replace it with another - which worked (and everything would display on my TV but would not copy onto another tape. My expert said that a copy protection thing in the record mode of the VHS recorder was the issue - ONLY a strong signal will be copied.

LG vs Lite On

both are just the same features just to write file from your hard drive. Maybe your point is you want the video from your VHS tapes will transfer to your hard drive. The only way to copy the video from your VHS is you need an external VHS player at the same time it will record the running video to a soft copy.

Please check this maybe this will be helpful http://www.allformp3.com/dvd-copy-software/convert-vhs-to-dvd.htm

Please rate me solve if you like my solution.
