Question about Toshiba D-R400

Toshiba DVD Recorder D-R400 won't record

Just purchased a Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV. Have an HDMI cable from TV to Toshiba D-R400. Cable from Comcast goes into Onkyo Receiver (no cable box). RCA cables run from Onkyo receiver to Toshiba.

Per the manual, I have set the clock, formatted a Sony DVRW disk then followed the basic recorded instructions. What stumps me is that I do not have a cable box so I cannot choose the channel per pg 35 "Basic Recording & One-Touch Timer Recording". The exact text reads: "Press [INPUT SELECT] to select the appropriate external input position (L1/L2) to which your cable/satellite box is connected (mine is L1, I guess). Then select the desired channel to record on the cable/satellite box." This is were I get into trouble.

Any suggestions? No picture, no sounds, nothing records from the TV.

Are you trying to record cable programming with your DVD recorder? If so, you might want to try using component cable as HDMI does have a copy protection circuit that might be preventing your recorder from receiving the image. Just try to connect the cable box component (RED/GREEN/BLUE) cable to your DVD recorder. If that doesn't work, then try to change everything over to component cables. HDMI is a great cable to use but it the only required to display 1080p images and the only current source that uses 1080p is a bluray player. Everything else, such as your cable box and DVD recorder is 1080i and component cables are perfect for it.

SOURCE: YOUR TV DOES NOT ALLOW DISPLAY OF THIS PROGRAM THROUGH THE DVI IN

I solved the same problem by disabling SIMPLINK from OPTIONS menu. I own the LG TV myself. The LG TV comes SIMPLINK "ON" as default setting from the factory. Go to MEMU -> OPTIONS -> Turn SIMPLINK to "OFF". This should work....

Hello I have just got a Sony PFM 42VIE television. How do I connect it via cables to be able to pick up tv broadcasts vis a panasonic dvd recorder with built in freeview. Thankyou.

Hi, The simplest way to connect the dvd recorder to television will be via the coaxial connections(the cables with the screw on ends)- ( on dvd recorder one will say in from ant./cable the other will say out to tv ) this should enable you to change your tv's channel with your dvd recorder which is what you're after I assume. The best connection will be with the dvd recorders HDMI output or component video out, keep in mind they may only work for dvd viewing and not with tv channels, also hdmi ouput has audio built in-with component video you will need to connect dvds L/R stereo output to the audio input for component video ( these connectors are marked red, green and blue.) the stereo input will be red and white. Thanks and I hope this was helpful, good luck Prodzilla

HD Video Recorder - CEC connection with HDTV

My first question would be, Is your Panasonic HD recorder CEC compliant? CEC means Consumer Electronics Control. That simply allows for the consumer to have better control over their Home Theater set up through the connection of you HDMI cable from their remote control without programing the remote control for every single device that is connected. If your recorder is CEC compliant the television should have automatically recognize the recorder and control you recorder via remote control (I am assuming that your recorder is an HD Camcorder, since your description was very vague). Once you connect your HD camcorder to your panasonic tv the tv should have turned on switching to the correct input and the same for any other CEC comliant devices. If your Panasonic HD recorder is not CEC compliant the you would have to start viewing your recorder the old fashion way, by using the recorder remote control or if your Toshiba remote is universal punch those codes in so that you can control your devices that way. If that don't work, try a different HDMI input and select the input and make sure your recorder is set to output on you tv. Hope this helps.....before I forget, check out this site to learn more about Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) http://www.videsignline.com/howto/207400325

Direct tv hdbox & Plasma TV & DVD SSound system & DVD recorder

Need to make sure you have the red, white, and yellow rca connection cables ran from the samsung dvd player to the red, white, yellow input on the back of the dvd recorder. Once you do that make sure you put your dvd recorder on line 1 input. If you look closely on the back of your recorder it should say line 1 input. If your recorder isn't on that input you can put the recorder on line 1 input by using dvd recorder remote and pushing the input button. Make sure you don't push the tv input button the dvd recorder remote there should be a seperate input button or a way to toggle the inputs on the recorder. Once you verify all that turn on your tv and go to the input on your tv that you watch the dvd recorder on and you should see what your recording on the tv.

Yamaha RX-V2700 skipping when playing a DVD on Toshiba D-R400

Sounds like a poor grounding issue between the units OR maybe they're not as compatible as the Mfg's say.

Could be a bad HDMI cable also. Most are made in the land of Nanking
