Sorry missed the part about the oxidation removal....you should definitely use electric contact cleaner for this , it should take it right off. Again there are a ton of places you can get this...best bet is to try your local electrical store.......hope that helps you!

Why does it sound so bad?

It's probably the mic, or you have some mental condition. I'm going with the mic, try returning it and getting a new one and if there's no difference, then try the software you use on whatever it is you're recording it with.

Hi, I would first ask if you are using a Ni-cad rechargeable battery system, these are not optimum performers for such a high drain microphone as probably the one you're using. Especially if the mic. takes a single 9 volt battery ( the average ni-cad 9 volt is about 200 milliamp hours, not a lot. If so-try switching to nickel metal hydride ( Ni-Mh ) these are better for high drain devices and do not develope a " MEMORY " effect ( which will cause rather sudden power loss ) memory effect can happen to almost brand new batteries as well, all it take to incur this is to charge a Ni-cad before it is totally dead. good luck, and thanks for choosing FixYa-Prodzilla

On the CAD GXL2200SP Where is the the power switch for the mic located at? Im not getting anything i have the phantom power and everything plugged up right. But i knw there has to be a power switch...

I don't believe the GXL2200 has a power switch directly on the microphone itself. Would you be able to tell me how you are supplying phantom power to the microphone?

Can I connect a CAD GXL2200SP Condenser Mic to a computer?

Technically, you can plug any microphone into a computer via an audio interface or USB(if applicable) With this mic it will require an audio interface just remember that since you are using a condenser you will need an interface that can supply phantom power. Good Luck, Cody J.

I have a gxl 2200 mic and my computer acknowledges the mic but i cant record anything because when i play it back there is no sound

You'll need a phantom power source, like an interface or mixer. Otherwise, the mic is likely in need of repair.

Microphone cutting off

Ensure the battery in the mic is 100% - low batteries can cause all sorts of symptoms. I wouldn't recommend anything other than a well known brand of Alkaline battery and definatley not rechanrgables.

When you say working in some places but not others, do you mean it works on some channels but not others?

I'm sure you are aware that condensers will not work without phantom power. I'd suggest trying your mic through a different system (if there are non available try your local music venue, if you ask the engineer nicely I'm sure he'll let you test it on their rig). Also try a diffenent condenser on all channels of your mixer, and also try a dynamic mic as well just for thoroughness.

I can't really give you an answer to this unless you've tested with other equipment to identify which part of your rig is faulty.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it was your mixer, I've always found behringer gear to be pretty crap quality.

Also it might be a stupid question but have you tried using a different cable?
