Philips 26PFL5522D/05 goes into temporary standby after turning on

Hi,

I'd appreciate some advice for an irritating problem I have with my Philips 26PFL5522D/05 LCD TV.

Most times (I'd say 4 out 5) after the TV has been on for about 5 seconds, it goes into standby for a few seconds and the powers back up. The remote doesn't work until the TV has powered itself back up.

Also very occassionally it goes into an "auto update mode" and tries to download a firmware update. I've left it in this mode for hours but it doesn't manage to download an update. The only solution I've found is to turn the TV off at the socket, leave for a minute or so and then turn back on.

Don't know if the 2 issues are connected so thought I'd describe both problems in the same post.

The Philips website offers no advice!

Any pearls of wisdom?

Thanks, Andy

Yes it is a temp problem as you found out for your self Great call on that BUD.. the best thing to do is contact sharp to see if they have had simular problems and if there are any recalls on this model . If not they will instruct you where to send the monitor into to be fixed.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos turns itself off

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

You can buy the parts online and fix if yourself!!

If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Screen-shots to defective LCD panels are given. You can see and compare to that to your TVs', and can make sure about the fault to an extent.

Philips 26pfl5522d/05 TV Channel issue

Just been on Philips Forum and there is a possible very simple solution. Press and hold the MENU button ON THE TV for about 20 secs. This should factory reset TV and allow storage/retrieval of channels to the '8k' store. See this page for more detail:http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?1366-26pfl5522d-05.
Now I have to ring my Dad who has exactly this problem!

My philips 26PFL5522D/05 TV is losing all stored channels every time it is switched off, any ideas

To answer you the information is stored in a Eprom or small IC which is either stand alone or part of the larger micro chip the set uses.

A possible way around this would be to get a box: cable or sat or such and connect it via rear jacks on the set and feed all thru them bypassing the tuner and its circuits---most boxes have those connections and can be programmed for which channels you want or do not want----

We are experiencing a problem with the sound on a flat screen Philips tv (model 26PFL5522D/05). The sound is really fuzzy. The tv is connected to free sat but the problem is still there when playing Dvds....

You should try to eliminate any physical cable issues by swapping the audio stereo cable from DVD to TV with another set and see if it persists when playing DVD. If the sound is fixed then it might be some bad cables you have. If it still sounds fuzzy, and your TV is still under warranty, I would consider calling Philips for customer support.
Check your manual to see how you can reset the settings back to default if at all possible.

Maxent MX42VM10 just turns on for a second and goes to standby

You have a two part problem here 1 is a bad capacitor in the unit witch is preventing startup another another would be your decoder board witch is causing those flashes on the screen just before it remits back to standby. My professional advice is simple take it in get a estimate on it if it cost you more then $200 to fix it then you might want to get a repair manual and do it yourself or find a low cost tech that knows this stuff. Otherwise you will need to search for its replacment, let me tell you plasmas are not going to be servicable after july 2011 so get it fixed while you can or find a good home for it.

Hi. My Philips flat TV will not show any picture

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.
