Question about Whirlpool 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave

Replaced the fuse and blew it up as soon as i tried to heat up something

Tried to heat up something and it just turned off and would not come on, it looked like the power supply was cut off. so i assumed it was a breaker, it wasn't replaced the 15ohms fuse behind the control panel power came back but as soon as it tried to heat up something the fuse again tried the second fuse and still had the same results. what could be the problem?

My Whirlpool MH6110XBB-5 OTR microwave just shut down, no power.
Does anyone know where the fuse is located and how to access it?
    Thanks, John

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

    What is your model number?

I'd say you almost certainly have a shorted high voltage capacitor.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes, just in case the capacitor is right behind the panel.

But I don't think it is. It looks like you'll need to pull the oven down from the wall and take off the outer cover. It's safer if you have a helper.

Whirlpool customer service is located here and you can also enter your model number on that page to download your owner's manual, installation instructions, etc..

I have a Panasonic inverter microwave. Was working perfectly an hour ago. Now totally dead. There is no light or anything. Have checked plug and fuses. No smell or anything. Can you please help.

Could be a shorted inverter blew fuse and unit dead. Or bad fuse holder got fuse hot and melted fuse so now unit dead. Must check fuse first and if bad replace and try, if it blows as soon as it tries to heat probably bad inverter. If it works for a long while then quits maybe bad fuse holder not grabbing fuse tightly making it over heat. So then bad by temperature not amperage.

The fuse is there to protect your home in case something has gone wrong inside your microwave. Since the fuse has blown twice, you can safely assume that there is something wrong inside. It may be fixable, it may not be economic to fix it. Impossible to troubleshoot electronics without the unit and test equipment.

My microwave went dead while heating up something what could it be

It probably blew the main fuse. Since it blew when it was running, it might indicate that the fuse holder isn't holding the fuse tightly enough; causing it to heat and internally melt.

You also could have some sort of failure, or failing component, in the high voltage circuit.

GE Advantium 120 SCA1000DWW03 blowing 20amp fuse

Our unit was doing the same thing,
took it into the repair shop, they said there was nothing wrong with the unit, replace the main breaker that supplies power to microwave and try again.
Sure enough the breaker became defective, and we never had issues with it before, but now the unit has not had a single problem.

My emerson micowave mw8119sb blow the fuse, I replace with a new one same rating, it turns on but when I put something for heat it blew the fuse again. Any help! Thanks!!!

Could be a short in the HV system for the magnetron--usually the HV diode. Another possibility is the metal stirrer fan in the waveguide above the oven cavity may have a shorted bearing (plastic). The short occurs internally within the bearing.

Blows the 20amp fuse when the heat is turned on

It has a short. Its likely the power $5 power diode.

It has to be checked first if its good then the mag tube may be bad.

Its likely the diode. You can test it by removing it and using a ohm meter to test it. Voltage should only flow 1 way if it flows both ways its shorted.
