Hello
Your Pioneer DVR's laser pickup unit assembly may have got damaged. It is a major work to replace it, as it may need to disassemble its mechanism and reassemble it. You must have a through knoledge about the process, unless the whole machanisam will get damged and become irrepairable any more. There are so many locks in the mechanism, and there is a chance of breaking them if you do with ease.
If you have a cleaning disc with you, just put it and play for two or more times. If the fault is due to dust or fungus on the laser units lens assembly, it will be cleaned automatically. If it doesn't help, as I indicated, if you have a confidence and more patience, try to replace it with an exact type and number. OK.

Pionner DVR-540H-S no longer plays DVD's

little,

good day, true it's not advisable to use disc cleaner for it may also damage or scracth the optic lens inside.Possibly the optic lens of your player is either dirty caust by dust or faulty. but let's do hope it's only dust related and the only thing you can do now is to open and unscrew the upper cover of your player. Get a soft cotton buds, after dismantling the upper cover locate the optic drive lens and clean the lens by wipping it gently in circular direction. then try to play some DVD.

cheers,
mark

Pioneer Dvr-633h-s

This idea may work when a multitude of devices become erratic in function, display info on the screen that is incorrect or just won't work at all.

Lightning strikes near by (even with the device connected to an isolation strip) power interruptions and excessive heat can cause electronic equipment to mal function.

Do the following:

Make certain that the device has ADEQUATE VENTILATION!

Remove all dust from the grill in the back of the unit in the fan location.

Un plug the device for at least 24 hours and permit any stored current to drain from the unit.

Then restore current to the device.

If the problem persists, plug and unplug the unit several times, observing the change in the screen, until the info there changes to the proper display.

If this does not work, you need a tech assist.

Angelo.

Digital audio problems

Try using a different cable for starters, regular rca, another optical or coaxial. If the optical works, then its a cable problem. If the coaxial works(and another optical doesnt), then its a cable/jack problem. If the RCA works(and the rest don't), then its a problem with the digital output. Try blowing into the holes, and if nothing works and you can't find any other advice, contact Pioneer. Good luck
