FUSER PAPER JAM

-   I have precisely the same problem except I have a different model printer. My printer is a laser Magicolor 2400 W. I spent about 6 hours trying to clear the paper from the fuser years. At one point I could see a fragment of paper in the fuser unit stuck between the roller and the front frame. It was stuck so tightly to the front part of the frame that a heavy piece of paper would not dislodge it - nor would a section of heavy folder paper. At some point the paper disappeared.

Presently I can feed a piece of paper through my printer and I will get a fair copy - but only if I have the properties (preferences) set for "thick stock".

There are sections where the printed page is lighter than others and there are some smears. If I have the preferences set for anything other than "thick stock", I get a mess so bad that I can not read it. I have tried 4 different types of laser paper. The poorest quality paper gives me the best printed page. The poor quality paper does not have any slickness so that may be the reason I get better copies when I use it

Must I replace the whole fuser unit?

-   Magicolor 2400W Paper Jam at Fuser

Paper and envelopes jam after approximately 1/5 of the paper (20 and 24lb) has been fed into the Fuser assembly from Tray 1 (only have onetray).

When the paper has been pulled back out the fuser and inspected, theportion of the paper that entered the fuser is folded (like a paperfan).

When I cleared my first jam, I could see from the top of the fuser apiece of paper the size of a quarter. I tried to manualy push thepaper paper out with a section of heavy paper - a section of a filecabinet file folder. The stuck piece of paper fell down into the fuserand can no longer be seen.

I still get paper jams. Earlier I found 2 pages on this websitedemonstrating clearing a paper jam at the fuser. A move was includedwith one of them.

I can no longer find the pages that demonstrate paper jams at thefuser. I wonder if I could clear the jam by removing the fuser unit tosee more of the assembly. So far I have not been able to findinstructions on removing the fuser.

Any help on finding the above or suggestions for clearing the paper jam would be appreciated. -   kc4cop
