Question about Amana Kitchen Ranges

I have a gas cooktop model AKS3640SS. There is spark and gas, but one burner is much slower to light than the other four. Burner is clean and firing like others; any idea on why and possible solution? Thanks

When it finally lights is there a big poof from a lot of gas? Is the spark on this burner as loud and bright as the others? Is it positioned where it is supposed to be? If not replace the igniter. You can test this out by robbing one of the other igniters and trying it in the problem burners spot.

Also you could pull that burner off the manifold where the burner tube slips over the gas outlet and check for any obstruction, like spilled and dried food, spider web in the oriface. If you get a big poof when it lights this is probably not the problem.

How to fix igniter for top burners

Hello. The range you have has a spark ignitor module inside the top, beneath the cooktop. Also, there is a spark ignition harness that has the four switches(snapped onto each of the burner valves at the control panel) connected together(daisy chained) that goes to the module and the incoming 120v supply. HOWEVER, the bigger issue here is getting to the module, harness, and other parts beneath the cooktop. Gas ranges are notorious for having the mount screws seize in the burners. When removing them is attempted, the heads usually snap off causing burner replacement to be necessary(which is why I listed the part numbers for the burners and screws). The cost of this can be high. I suggest calling for service if you are at all hesitant about working on the range.

The stove part has five burners, 4 outer and one in the middle. One day the four outer burners stopped lighting, but the center one still does light. The four outer burners all still click when...

Look for obstructions or a buildup on the spark tip on each burner. I use a tooth pick to clean around them. Let the burner completely dry before trying to light it since water will give a shorter path to ground which will produce a smaller on no spark at the burner.

Range: Gas burner won't spark or ignite A surface burner igniter switch and a spark module activate the spark electrode when a burner is turned to the "Lite" position on a gas range's cooktop. If the surface burner switch, spark module or wiring in that circuit fails, the spark electrode won't work, and as a result the gas burner won't light. If those components work but the electrode won't spark, the problem could be that the spark electrode is coated with spilled food of is bent or broken. In addition, the electrode won't spark or ignite the burner properly if the ceramic insulation sleeve below the tip of the electrode is cracked or broken. If the gas burner isn't lighting, these repairs may help.

Replace the spark igniter electrode

1396454293470.jpg The spark igniter electrode-also called the surface burner igniter-is an insulated electrode that provides an ignition spark to light a surface gas burner. It sparks and makes a ticking sound when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the spark ignition electrode if it fails to spark or if the ceramic insulation sleeve is cracked or chipped. How to Replace a Spark Igniter Electrode in a Gas Range Find This Part

Replace the surface spark module

1377098014986.jpg The surface spark module is in the ignition circuit for the gas surface burners. When a surface burner control knob is turned to the "Lite" position, it provides voltage to the spark electrodes on the gas surface burners. If the surface spark module fails to provide the electrodes with voltage, then it should be replaced. Find This Part

Replace the spark igniter switch

1396454315355.jpg The igniter switch is an electrical switch on the stem of the gas surface burner control valve. This switch completes a circuit to the surface burner spark module, causing the burner igniters to spark when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the burner igniter switch if the burners don't spark when you turn the burner control knob to the Lite position or if igniters spark constantly even when the burner knobs are in the Off position.

Ge profile gas range. one burner with no clicking and no ignition

You may have a bad burner switch. If you turn one of the other burner switches to make the spark modules spark look and see if the electrode is sparking at the bad burner. Most of the spark modules send a spark to all 4 burners when activated. If it sparks when another burner is activated open the valve and see if the burner will ignite. If so you probably have a bad burner switch.

Do you hear the spark ignitor trying got light the burner?

If not, then make sure there is not a residue or film of cleaning solution on the burner bases or burners themselves. It could be coincidental that the spark ignitor failed when she just happened to be cleaning the unit.

Top burners spark intermittently with burner valves shutoff

Remove the burner caps (where the gas and flame come out) and wash in warm soapy water, using a plastic toothbrush like brush to scrub thoroughly.

Also clean/scrub the burner bases and ignition knob on the top of the cooktop.

When you reassemble, make sure the burner caps are properly seated in the burner bases.

The front left burner on the stove does not ignite.

you have one of three problems. first check to se if it's sparking when turning on, if not try cleaning sparker with a small wire brush, second try turning on another burner and see if it sparks then, if it does the switch is bad (under the knob), third is to replace spark module.
