I have a Phillips Tivo Direct TV combo I set up the remote to match my tv and all worked fine. I then noticed that you can set up the remote to operate your stereo. They do not tell you on the setup screen that it is one or the other but not both. Well here is my problem when I shut down the stereo the tv gos off also. When I tried to turn things back on the stereo would go on but the TV would not. I would have to find the TV remote and turn it on, then I could operate everthing with the Tivo remote. Well I reset the remote according to Phillips support line. The stereo no longer is controlled by the Tivo remote but when I shut down the tv it still will not come back on, I have to use the tv remote to turn the tv on, then the Tivo remote operates as it is supposed to. Thanks

I get a similar problem. I have it set to control both but it is inconsistent. the TV responds every time but the receiver ignores it every other time. very annoying. I know it is aimed right since the tv responds no matter where I point it so I just aim it at the receiver.

I should have stated that I have an older Tivo remote the one that had problems with pushing the button to the right and it would respond in a differant direction, that one functions proprly as far as on and off goes Thanks the second time ...

"John Doe" <> wrote It's not documented, but you can get the TiVo remote's power button to operate both your TV and stereo receiver: #
huh? I thought you had a problem with the remote *not* operating both... anyway, they can get out of sync. iow, they both need to be on or both need to be off for things to function as you'd like -- TiVo remote power button turning both off or both on as the same time. Make sure you aim in such a way that both the receiver and the TV can get their codes from the remote.
Well, that just sounds weird. Perhaps you have a TV that uses a different code to turn itself off vs. on, as opposed to how most TVs work, which is using the same code to turn off and on, like a toggle.
