Remote Problem

I have a Phillips Tivo Direct TV combo I set up the remote to match my tv
and all worked fine. I then noticed that you can set up the remote to
operate your stereo. They do not tell you on the setup screen that it is one
or the other but not both.
Well here is my problem when I shut down the stereo the tv gos off also.
When I tried to turn things back on the stereo would go on but the TV would
not. I would have to find the TV remote and turn it on, then I could operate
everthing with the Tivo remote. Well I reset the remote according to
Phillips support line. The stereo no longer is controlled by the Tivo remote
but when I shut down the tv it still will not come back on, I have to use
the tv remote to turn the tv on, then the Tivo remote operates as it is
supposed to.
