If you dropped a tomtom in water, you will most likely need to get a new one or send it to a repair center.
However, we may be able to make it so we don't loose any data. Did you use a sd card? if you did, try it on your computer, and copy over any files you can.
If you didn't, or couldn't, try plugging the gps into the computer and see if it responds at all. if it does, try to copy any/all files over.
Once you get the GPS back, you can simply copy over the old files, and it should work again!
Also, What do you mean by switched? Do you mean when you tried to switch it on?

Dropped in fresh water for approx 2 seconds. Unit powers up but I can not get past the Drive safely screen. When tap the Continue button, it will not continue.

Hi,
Just been trawling through tomtom's website and the only reference to waterproofing I can find ( The IPXX rating) is for the motorbike version. So in short, it's not even remotely waterproof. So the best thing for now is to turn it off, remove the battery if possible, but don't worry if you can't, and leave the gps in a warm, dry place to dry off. This can take a few days but it tends to work for phones etc that are accidently dropped in water.
If it still doesn't work after that it will need to be sent back to tomtom to see what the damage is...

My iphone 3g was accidentelly fall into water, and it wont start from that point of time, if anybody having solutions please let me know, thanks in advance

Hello, I sorry about your iphone and water damage is serious, you have a couple of options, one is to wait for time for it to dry out and see if it works, i did this once and it worked for mine but it did take time but it wasnt an iphone... if you have insurance then you could claim and send it off for replacement or repair.. it could be that it might be a complete replacement.

I have dropped my garmin in some what can i do?

attatch your boat to it and keep it as an anchor.
Water will eventually corrode it no matter what you do. You could try and claim for it on your insurance.

Touch screen wont work

Try resetting the unit. Oppisite side of on switch (left side) lift rubber cover, notice the button and slide switch. With unit on,use a pen and slide the switch up and then back down and trhen hit the button on top. that should rest the unit. Also you look in the manual for reset.

Nuvi 760 garmin got wet accidentally

I dropped my 760 nuvi into the dog's water bowl... (by accident of course)...

It was working but would shut off and eventually would not start.
Using the correct screwdriver with the star head, I removed the two tiny screws at he bottom back of the unit. Gently from the bottom, pry off the back.
Be careful as the battery pack and the speaker wire are still connected.

Using a hairdryer on Medium heat and high fan, air out the unit until all water/condensation is gone.

Before putting back together.... check that the unit works, and charges by connecting thusb to a computer.....

Once content it is working, snap the cover back together and screw in the 2 screws.
