Question about Hampton Bay Cessna 04313 Ceiling Fan

Open Question

Fan stuck on high speed

The fan won't change speed or even turn off through the remote. The light does work through remote so it isn't the remote.

SOURCE: hampton bay fan, wall mount remote control

Hello burrow31. There maybe a switch located on the fan stating 'remote/manual'. Check your manual. Remove the battiers in your remote and short out the battery contact terminals. Reinstall the battiers, start the fan and after fan has reached set speed press & hold fan speed button for one second. Still no speed change contact the Mgfr. with model & serial #.

Your pull chain selector switch may need replacing. pick it up at your local electrical supply house. Make sure you don't change the light switch for a dimmer switch.

SOURCE: FAN SPEED AND FOR/REV BUTTON NOT WORKING ON THE REMOTE

To fix the reverse problem, turn off the switch, and turn it back on about 2 seconds later, and the fan might reverse. If it doesn't, keep trying.

SOURCE: My Hampton Bay ceiling fan runs only on high speed

Yes, look up www.hamptonbay.com and get their contact number from them. It sounds like your transmitter (Remote) has failed. If it were the receiver the fan would most likely not work at all.

My control won't activate the light on my Hunter fan. The light comes on via pull chain fine, and the control works the 3 speeds on the fan, but the light won't respond.

Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.

Hunter ceiling fan remote will not turn off light it just dims the light

Try this. Remove power from the fan. Remove batteries from the remote. Press butttons on remote (might be stuck). Apply power to the fan. Install batteries in the remote and try all functions. If this doesn't work, the remote may be defective or the remote receiver may be defective. I can tell you from my own experience I have a ceiling fan that loses its mind whenever there is a power outage. Has to be reeducated from scratch

It's possible the fan is in reverse and some fans will not on function faster or lower speeds, check for a switch on the side of the fan just above the blades.

nothing wrong with the power supply, or the remote, the speed switch in the fan is faulty, as it is more finiky than a manual speed change(like with a cable)

The Hampton Bay Altura Ceiling fan functions only with remote.

I contacted the manufacturer (kingofffans.com) after my Altura fan would run on high speed only and the remote would not control any thing. They said their was a manufacturing defect with a capacitor that affected many of the Altura fans. We are now on a waiting list for a new capacitor and housing, because they did not have enough replacement parts.

Remote Control

Change the remote control batteries. Because of the motor construction, it needs to turn on in the highest speed setting. This is why it defaults to the high speed mode. Put new batteries in the remote and that ought to fix it.

Remote control stopped working

Under the dome (where the electrical connections are) is the receiver unit for the fan. It could be that it is no longer working. Also the remote may have dip switches to change the frequency channel (sometimes located behind the batteries) check that these have not been changed or check they correspond to the receiver unit on the fan.
