Have a SEIKI LC-32B56 lcd flat panel tv. Channel CTV keeps saying to turn off sap so the second voice will not be heard. Well the mts button gets me there and i switch to stereo or mono but it still speaks. Dvd player is hooked up thru component. Really starting to get irritating. Any suggestions.

SOURCE: When watching television my tv switches from mono

Hello,

All plasma an lcd TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.

Good luck.

In the menu for audio, there will be a selection for TV speakers on or off. They are probably switched off.

Fault with main board. Damaged component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too will be necessary.

To make it a factory reset, you have to enter its service mode option. There is no external reset button or so to this set. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts. Entering service mode, and do adjustments procedures to many brand TVs are given.

No sound in Sony Bravia

If the sound is not heard during tuner (channel) but is when using an AV input (DVD) then it is likely the Second Audio Program (SAP) has been engaged. Some SONYs simply have a button on the remote to toggle through choices, SAP is used primarily for second language transmission of audio. Either move to a PBS station or some other channel that specifies SAP programmimg or turn the choice (MTS in some SONY menus) back to "main" by either a remote button or in the audio menu.

Good luck.

I can hear audio on all stations except one?

Check on your remote for a button labeled MTS/SAP or something similar -- try pressing it (possibly more than once). Sometimes this can cause audio to be heard on some channels but not on others...

Analog or Digital?

This tv is analog, EDTV is only enhanced definition tv ,480p resolution, not the HDTV 1080i or 1080p resolution, the mts/sap tuner has to do with the audio decoder. For example: SAP would allow you to view a station broadcast in english to be heard in spanish. MTS is surround sound broadcast. Thanks

No sound on four channels while all other channels sound is fine.

You most likely have the SAP1.gif mode activated. Look for a button on your remote or an item in the on-screen menus of your television1.gif called MTS or SAP. You want to set this to "Main" "Normal" or "Stereo" (or even "Mono") mode to hear the regular television sound.

If it is in SAP (Secondary Audio Program) mode, as I believe yours is, you may hear no sound or a different audio program. Often this is a translation to another language, such as Spanish, and other times (notably with PBS stations) it is an unrelated audio (often music) feed. On some stations there may be no sound at all with the audio mode set to SAP.
