On the spring loaded one a metal pin will fit through a hole in the black to keep it in place. Ensure your blade is not broken and has a hole for the pin to go through.

What is the procedure in putting a blade in the scroll saw?

there are 2 methods of blade retention
1-- is a small screw in the side of the retainer that jams the blade in place
2--- the blade is held in place by a collet actio pull the blade shaft all the way back into the machine -- pull the retainer at the ed of the shaft back further up against the machine and the old blade will fall out -- put in the new blade and release the collet retainer

How do I remove the blade that is stuck from a Craftsman jig saw with the easy release?

Hi Tom:
Don't know what caused it to get stuck, but my old Craftsman just has a spring loaded metal tab that holds the blade in place. Have you tried using a screw driver to gently pry the release? It shouldn't require brute force but a bit of gentle persuasion shouldn't hurt.

ive had this problem many times, first make sure you have the right blade, then you need to make sure you are seating it correctly, and tightening correctly.
