Yes it requires skill and dexterity you need to take the laptop apart and remove the cmos battery. Id suggest bringing it in to a computershop to let a skilled tech do it, well worth the money.

We need to remove the battery (cmos) for a bit to clear the passwords, heres how:
Before you begin any removal or installation procedures:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the
computer is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 captive screw that
secures the memory/Mini Card module compartment cover
to the computer. (bottom of laptop)will see memory chips or slot when the cover is opened.
5. Lift the right side of the cover and swing it up and to the
left and remove it.
6. Make note of which antenna cable is attached to which
antenna clip on the Mini Card module, and then disconnect
the auxiliary and main antenna cables from the Mini
Card module.
7. Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws that secure the
Mini Card module to the computer.
8. Remove the Mini Card module by pulling the module away
from the socket at an angle .
Reverse the above procedure to install a Mini Card module
9. Remove the RTC battery from the socket on the
system board.
10. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
11. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the computer.
12. Connect AC power to the computer. Do not reinsert any
batteries at this time.
13. Turn on the computer.
All passwords and CMOS settings have been cleared.
I leave the new password field blank unless you have worries about someone changing your settings in the BIOS.

Which operating system ?
The Compaq Presario CMOS password is an administrative security measure built into the firmware of a Compaq computer.

This password is stored in the motherboard's BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and provides for hardware-level security.

This password may be accidentally set or forgotten over time and must be reset in order to boot the computing system.

Disconnect the Compaq computer from any electrical sources and remove the side access panel from its case.

This may require the removal of one or more thumbscrews on the rear of the computer case.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. - rules

Locate the CMOS battery.

This battery is a round button-type battery located in the bottom-right corner of the Compaq Presario motherboard.

Grip the battery by its edges and pull it straight away from the motherboard to remove it.

Press and hold the power button on the case for ten seconds to remove any remaining electrical current from the computer.

This removes the CMOS settings and returns it to the default state of having no password set.

Replace the CMOS battery.

Replace the computer's side access panel and re-establish any previously severed electrical connections.

It seems to be BIOS password, if you don't remember or don't have the BIOS password you have to reset the password by opening your CPU cover and removing the CMOS coin battery, this will reset the BIOS password but dont forget to return back the battery and start using your PC.

I used this software to create a boot-CD for resetting a password. (This is to my knowledge also the only one that works with Windows Vista.)

You should also read this article about the process. Don't forget that you might loose especially encrypted files which are stored under that username!

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
