If you mean that it is not heating and stays cool, most likely the pilot sensing thermocouple needs replacing (if you have a gas drier with a pilot light) or the electronic ignition contacts need replacing (if you have a gas drier with electronic ignition). Not sure about an electric drier, but probably the heating element needs replacing, or the thermocouple sensor (most likely). None of these are very expensive.

Strucke

If the drier is electric then more than likely the heating element has burnt out. This element is located at the bottom of the drier and can be accessed through the back. The element looks just like a toaster element. Take the model and serial #'s to an appliance parts house for the correct replacement part and you should be good to go. It is fairly simple to replace as you will see once you take the back of the drier off

Good luck hope this helped

My Kenmore gas dryer runs but it does not dry.

Obviously make sure the gas supply valve is open and gas is going to the unit.
Then determine if the burner is lighting at all... there is a small plastic plug in the lower left of the front panel. If you remove this plug you can see the burner assembly.
When the drier powers up you should see a glow plug that gets red hot, then a click (the solenoid opening) then the burner should light and you should see a blue flame.
If this does not happen, the glow plug will go out and then in a minute or so, the process will start again with the glow plug and the click.
If this cycle repeats without ANY lighting of the burner, you need to replace the burner assembly and/or safety valve... send the model number and I'll show you the parts.
If the burner lights for a few seconds and then extinguishes, it is probably a faulty flame sensor, which is a probe extending into the path of the burner flame about in the middle of the burner assembly (It makes sure the flame is lit and if it doesn't get hot enough it closes the gas valve to avoid filling your laundry area with gas). You can try cleaning it, and then replacing it. Again if you give me the model # I can help you...

Is gas turned on with pilot light or electronic?

No pilot. Unplug the power to the unit and it cannot run/ignite. There is a shutoff on the valve behind the front panel if you want to turn off the gas supply without moving the dryer.

Gas......starts to heat then quits minutes later.

Problem is your gas solenoid coils. When they get worn they will open til they get out then shut. They will need to be replaced.

Part number 279834 replaces for most models.

Dryer wont spin

Take the back off  of the drier after unplugging and the beklt goes from the motor pully all the way around outside of the the drum. You can't miss it. Most of the Kenmore drier belts are the same. WE have apliance repair parts stores locally. If you also do , go to the store with the old belt and match it up.

Cycles but no heat

The igniter needs to be near the burner jet in order to get a flame started when gas is provided,, the thermo fuse should be situated on the heat duct. I do not have access to Kenmore service manuals to provide any specific darwing details.. my comments are based on other brands.. I hope this helps..
