Same problem here with my sony head unit. This happened once before, I took it back to Circuit City (who originally installed) and they said it was common for this to happen a few time. The techie reset something and it worked again. I asked him if he could show me how to do it so I don't have to make special trips to Circuit City, he simply said it was too complicated to explain. Now it happened again and CC is going out of business. Still don't know what to look for.

My problem is similar and oddly enough has occured within the last week or so. I don't have XM Direct. I have an older sony tuner, connected to an xm ready sony receiver. it's worked fine for the 4 years that i've had it and all of a sudden one day....nothing. the display just reads no signal. i've messed with the wires and cannot get it to come back on. oddly enough if i turn my receiver off and then back on, i get signal and sound for like 30 minutes some times but it will eventually go away back to no signal. xm says the tuner is fried and i need a new one...

Resetting the head unit will make it look for anything that is connected to it recently or even already is for a long time. Make sure your head unit's memory cable is constant power (direct to battery) to retain in its memory that the xmdirect2 unit is already connected. There must be a loose cable when it is not recognized as a source like the power cable from the adapter which should be on constant power. You should hear a click sound on the xmdirect2 module whenever you turn to xm source on the radio. The CC tech that was actually solved the problem by chance if he couldn't explain this to you. Loosing signal is different

It's probably an issue with the cable. Try a new cable and see what happens.

You can try asking for help on www.XM411.com in the technical section - you might have some luck there, or at least get info from other XM owners. good luck!

AM radio fuzzy now

I have to disconnect the power supply (I installed a switch) to shut off entirely the XM power supply as it will wipe-out your AM reception. Nothing you can do other than put in a switch. Even if the XM unit is OFF, you will still get the interference from the power supply.

XM Direct 2

On the adapter cable if there is a separate cable for power connect the positive directly to battery power as opposed to ignition. The memory resides on the xmdirect2 module not on the head unit.

Roady XT Transmitter problem

Mine is doing the same as well. Been working for 1 year. Now it starts cutting out while listening. I noticed if it is broadcasting the fm frequency menu is there. The minute it cuts out I press Menu and that menu item is gone. It comes back once the radio starts working again. Mine is 1 year old. I got it Christmas of 2006. I do know that if you have it directly connected then this menu item will not appear and that is by design. I think my xm roady xt has gone bad.

XM RADIO PROGRAMMING

For the Ilo CA3000v, all you need is an XM direct tuner box, Model XMD1000, the cable that came with the Ilo radio, and an RCA cable to connect the two. The RCA jacks and the 8-pin DIN jack on the back of the ILO CA3000v are exclusively used for XM signal translation. You will, of course, need a subscription to XM Satellite radio, but the items listed above cover the extent of the hardware you'll require. The XMD1000 comes with the antenna as well, so no need to worry about that, and all XM features are controlled from the head unit itself
