Hi there,

The salt goes in the salt compartment in the base of the dishwasher. Open the door and pull the lower basket out. You should then be able to see a cap near the front-left corner of the base of the dishwasher. Unscrew this cap (anti-clockwise) and fill the compartment with salt all the way to the top - or with as much salt as you have in the packet - then screw the cap back on firmly, but do not over-tighten it. The salt compartment will (or should!) be full of water and some will spill out as you fill it with salt. This is totally normal and not indicative of any problem.

Do not use any type of salt which is not sold specifically for dishwashers. The dishwasher can be used without salt but it is not advised and may result in a white film being left on your cutlery, glassware and/or dishes.

It may also be possible to provide a user manual in PDF format which you can download, but I would need to know the model number. If you don't know the model number Most Neff/Bosch dishwashers have the model number laser-etched into the stainless-steel at the top of the inner-door or the rim of the washing compartment. Thanks to hijoloo for pointing me in the right direction. The offending part is the diverter valve, a paddle inside blocks one of two outlets in turn actuated by a micro switch, a motor and reduction gears. Check switch for continuity with multimeter (ohms) then check motor and gears turn freely by hand. My problem was a stiff paddle due to limescale. Soak in boiling water to free off then oil cog (externally) and rebuild.
turn the washer on its side and open up the bottom black plastic plate, than disconnect the two black hoses from the white pumphouse in the middle of the washer. disconnect the connector and open carefully the housing by removing two screws and the motor. check the switch and clean the white housing. Check also if there is nothing inside the rotorhouse. after this build every thing back and hope that its running. it worked for me. succes!

more than likely your drain hose is plugged or something in the pump is plugging the drain hose using a wet vac the water out of the drain hose and see if you get water out of it if not take hose off from bottom and try reverse suction to ensure hose is clear most dishwasher will not complete cyc if float is in the up position and will not advance.

went onto Hoover web site and downloaded instruction manual and found out what the flashing light meant and then phoned help line

We fixed the problem at home. The Start button had a loose connection.unscrewed the panel and pushed all the wires in and were able to restart the dishwasher.

need to know the manufature and model number to help on this one. also if possible note what lights are flashing and how many times. It could be giving a fault code.
