You have to have Itunes installed to copy the files to your Ipod. Itunes will copy mp3 files to your Ipod once you add the mp3 files to your library.

My ipod model A1199 doesn't play mp3 songs.

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

How to get a WMV file on your iPod

<p>The iPod is not compatible with any video format around. Windows-based formats like WMV and WMA, does not work with software designed by Apple in its iPod. Fortunately, iTunes is a useful conversion tool that can quickly create an iPod compatible version of the WMV file. Once the file is converted, use iTunes to copy the converted WMV to come into your iPod. <br /> <p><br /> <p>1. Open the iTunes software. Click the "File" button on the toolbar and click "Add to Library". Select a file dialog appears. <br /> <p><br /> <p>2. Go to the "WMV" file and click it. Click the "Add" button to copy the WMV file into your iTunes library. <br /> <p><br /> <p>3. Click the entry to WMV in the iTunes library and click the Advanced tab. Click the "Create iPod Version 'from the drop-down with a copy of the WMV MP4 file. <br /> <p><br /> <p>4. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable for iPod. <br /> <p><br /> <p>5. Click the converted file and drag it to your iPod in "Devices" entry in the list on the left side of the iTunes interface. iTunes will automatically load the file on your iPod. <br />

Cannot play most music and also indicating invalid file format, open fail, decode error what should i do and can i make it play musics when copied onto de ipod

Most times, people often make the mistake of copying music files direct to the memory of the ipod device.
If you do this, you might be able to detect the songs but your ipod will not play the songs as it may not recognize their format.
For you to copy music files to your ipod, you would need to download the itunes program and install it to your computer.
With this installed, you can connect your ipod to your computer and open itunes. It would be displayed under your itunes program and you can then copy your music files using itunes by dragging them and dropping them on the name of your ipod as it is shown on the left hand side of the itunes program.
If after doing this, you still have the same problem, you can use your itunes to format the ipod and put the songs afresh.
Hope this helps you? Please comment for more information

Hey ttaylor7,

As long as the files you download through Linewire are in a format supported by iTunes, you may be able to play them on your iPod. The major exceptions to this however, are if the files you download are copy-protected or contain a digital rights management (DRM) identification tag. If the files you download are copy-protected and/or contain a DRM tag, you may only be able to play those songs using the media player software recommended or provided by Linewire itself.

I would strongly suggest contacting Linewire technical support before attempting any kind of file transfer, as Linewire would have the most accurate information regarding whether or not the files they provide have either of these protections.

Additionally, remember that iTunes is only able to support certain file types. Those file types are MP3, MP3 VBR, AAC, Protected AAC, Audible 2/3/4, Apple Lossless and AIFF audio formats; JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG image formats; H.264 and MPEG-4 video formats.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
