Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Mini sd card stuck

Accidentally inserted the mini sd card without the adapter and it is now very stuck. Canon say they charge £95 call out fee. Easier to buy a new printer but I like this one so if you can suggest how to get the mini sd card out that would be good.

I would say get a pair of twezzers and try and pull it out, if not turn it on its front and hang it off the end of a table and try and pick it out,

this has happen a few times but it is not Canon fault as its does not take those cards.

i would try and get it your self.

only thing you can do!

You were right to try another card to see if it would work. Some brands of SD card will not work with all brands of printer. Also, check that the SD card is of the right type and size to work with your printer.

Printer wont read SD cards does read sony memory

If it does not seat (fit) properly, why say the printer will not read SD cards? It certainly will read SD cards that are supported. You can still upload to computer and print from there as you suggested.

How to use the memory card reader

To access the memory card reader without using the software provided, follow the steps below. If no card is inserted, the green light on the card reader will be on.
Insert a memory card.
• Insert the card with the brand name label facing up.
• If there is an arrow on the card, make sure it points toward the printer.
• If needed, make sure you connect the memory card to the adapter that came with it before inserting it into
the slot.
Wait for the light located to the right of the slots on the printer to come on. The light blinks to indicate the memory
card is being read or is transmitting data.
• The printer recognizes one memory card at a time. If you insert more than one memory card, a message appears
on the display prompting you to remove all memory cards inserted.
• If a USB flash drive is inserted together with the memory card, a message appears on the display prompting you
to choose which memory device to use.
When reading of images is complete, the number of photos found appears on the display. Then you can make your selection and print. these are the types of memory card supported by you printer.
xD-Picture Card
• Secure Digital (SD)
• Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC)
• Mini Secure Digital (with adapter)
• Micro Secure Digital (with adapter)
• MultiMedia Card (MMC)
• Reduced Size MultiMedia Card (with adapter)
• MultiMedia Card mobile (with adapter)
• Memory Stick (MS)
• Memory Stick PRO

I haven't ever used the Memory Stick or Pro, but have used an adapter with the xD card and it worked fine. I've also used CF cards and SD cards without any adapter, and it read those fine also.
