You need to plug the S-Video cable in before you turn on Computer. So Turn on TV, Plug in Cable then turn on Laptop. You may need to enable S-video.

Problems some times hooking computer to TV

Before hooking up the laptop to the TV, lower your resolution on your laptop then shut it down. Just for testing purposes I would try 640X480 since you can always change it. Hook up the laptop to the TV and then turn on your laptop. See if it goes into windows with the display showing on the TV. If it does then reboot the laptop and try a few more times. If your consistently getting video then you can play around with the resolutions.
If your still having video issues, try a new video cable. Also update your video drivers to the latest version on your laptop. If the problem still persists update your BIOS to the latest version.
Hopefully that will do it but if not then its an issue with the motheboard.

Cant get sound from laptop to tv

Just to verify...you've made sure that your headphones jack will play audio in lets say, some headphones, or a set of computer speakers?

However, your T.V. may not recognize audio when using VGA. I say this because if you look at the hook-ups on your T.V., you notice that most sections contain audio and video together, not seperate. If the port is available on your computer, trying using HDMI, the single cord for HDMI carries both sound and video. One last thing you can try with your current set up is find a set of the red and white rca hookups that are independent of any other grouping, in other words excluding the yellow video or any other connections. If you're T.V. wont play the sound in that, then either your headphones jack is messed up or the T.V. just wont recognize it while using VGA.

I have a dell laptop how can i play videos on

For your first question, Yes you can play Videos on a large screen TV, it just depends on the connectors that you have on your Laptop as well as on your TV, the common ones you can use are, VGA , S-Video, and HDMI. Just get the cable and plug it to the interface on your TV as well as on your laptop, and select OUTPUT TO on your laptop, through the display settings, as well as INPUT source on your TV.
For your second question yes! I there is a software that you can actually use to download Videos from Youtube, Just copy the link on the Video Clip on The address bar the software produces, and poof! there you go...it downloads it right on to your desktop.
The link for the software is :
http://files3.download3000.com/download/2ae5f00861754883218f2107dfd6e6e9/103/19063/youtubedownloader.exe
Enjoy!!!

Playing DVDs on Laptop through the TV

Here's what's happening... software companies like CyberLink subscribe to the Macrovision requirements for playing DVDs and protecting copyrighted materials.

Macrovision has approved numerous video cards for what they call "TV Out" which allows the movie to be displayed on your TV.

Unfortunately, your Dell Inspiron does not have a Macrovision approved and supported video card in it, so it gives instructions to the computer to disable TV Out and not allow it to play anywhere besides the computer.
