Caution: The entire contents of the hard disk including any partitions will be lost.
Note: The following message may appear when disks (CDs/DVDs) are inserted:
"An unidentified program is attempting to access the computer"
"Unidentified publisher"
Confirm this message with "Allow Access" if you are certain of the source
and its origin. This query is intended to protect your operating system and is
generated prior to system files being accessed. For example, it appears
during the installation process for programs and drivers.
4.2.1 Restoring the operating system
1. With the machine turned on. Insert the Product Recovery CD/DVD into the optical
drive.
2. Turn the machine off, wait a moment and then turn it back on.
3. When the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …" appears on the
screen for the first time, press any key on the keyboard.
.Caution! This message will appear after each restart during the installation
process. Please ignore this message in these cases as the
computer is only booted from CD/DVD once.
4. In the "Install Windows" menu select "Installation Language", "Time and
Currency Format
" and "Keyboard or Input Method", click on "Next" and then on
"Install now".
5. Accept the "Windows Licence Conditions" and click on "Next" to proceed with
the installation.
6. In the "Type of Installation" menu select "User-defined".
7. In the "Where would you like to install Windows" menu, select the partition on
which you would like to install your operating system.
If you would like to install Windows on a specific partition with sufficient storage
capacity, select it and then click on "Next".
If you wish to create a new partition or extend, delete or format an existing one,
click on "Drive options (extended)", select the desired option and click on "Next".
The installation process will start. The hard disk will be wiped and reformatted.
Files from the CD/DVD will copied on to the hard disk and expanded, and functions
and updates installed. This may take a few minutes. The machine will
automatically report a restart.
8. Now follow the on-screen instructions until the "Welcome Screen" appears.
9. Remove the Product Recovery CD/DVD from the optical drive.
To install the drivers, additional software and to restore the online documentation, insert
the Drivers & Utilities CD/DVD supplied into the optical drive.
.
4.2.3 Restoring additional software onto notebooks (drivers, documentation, hot
fixes)
The Drivers & Utilities CD/DVD allows your system's drivers, software and hot fixes to
be installed and restored. The installation and restore can be performed without having
to shut down Windows.
Proceed as follows:
hope this helps- here is the manual address if you need to look at it---please feel free to post more questions as you proceed..

there is a key-combination mentioned when your computer first starts that tells you to press it if you want to enter the bios setup ultility, if your computer did not give you the choice to boot from CD.

    Starting the BIOS Setup Utility

► Reboot the notebook (switch off/on or reboot the operating system).

    BIOSSetupUtility

􀀜 The following or a similar display appears on the screen at start-up:

    BIOS Setup Boot Menu

► When this message appears, press the function key F2 .

► If a password has been assigned, enter the password and press enter.

once In the BIOS navigate to the boot menu, you will notice the listed boot order, what you want is the CD rom to be the first device on the list (usually the hard drive is), this will cause the computer to give you the option of booting from the CD.

once you have made to change, select save and restart. Mke sure the cd is in the cd drive before you restart.

    then just follow the prompts.

    Getting around the BIOS:

► Use the cursor keys ← or → to select the menu you wish to access to make changes.

􀀜 The menu is displayed on the screen.

► Select the option you want to change with the cursor keys ↑ or ↓ .

    ► Press the Enter key.

► Press the ESC key to exit the selected menu.

► For future reference, make a note of the changes you have made

Dvd for recovery process AMILO LI 2727 instruccions

If you wish to recover the laptop to factory settings, and the laptop has the original hard drive still installed, you can use the built-in system recovery option.

When you switch on your laptop, start pressing F8, until the Advanced Boot Options appear. Select "Repair Your Computer". After a short while, a selection of System Recovery options should appear. Select Fujitsu-Siemens Computers Recovery / Easy Back-up and Recovery of your system.

Please note that running the system recovery procedure will wipe your data, so do not go ahead with it if there is anything you do not wish to lose.

If you have installed a different hard drive, the necessary partition will not be present, and you will need to acquire a disc to reload your Operating System and drivers.

Lost first recovery disc.

Either contact the manufacturer, and order a replacement set of disks, or, look on your computer ---- there may be software that allows you to "burn" a complete set of disks.

The black plastic ring at the end of the adaptor pin is slightly broken. When inserted into the laptop it heats considerably. I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727

It now has a bad connection and SPARKS all the time and therefore gets hot like that. Replace the unit or get that very delicate connection repaired

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 how do i take it back to factory settings

Hi there.
To factory restore a Amilo 2727, restart the laptop and press F8 as it starts up. It will bring you to a sub menu with safe mode etc, in that list you will see factory restore, choose that option and just follow the on-screen instructions.

Good luck with the restore and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Vista crash

Sounds like a piece of the laptop's hardware has died. Best bet would be to contact the place where you purchased it from or take it back to them. If it is a hardware failure then it will be under warranty and they should replace the faulty piece of hardware or give you another laptop that is the same as this one.

Hopefully this won't be a recurring thing for you or your daughter as it can be a time consuming effort to get it replaced or fixed all the time.
