Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

No sound device

I downloaded windows xp home edition and the sound device area is greyed out. I installed realtek audio and it said that it can't start. what audio driver should i use and how do i add hardware?

Uninstall any media drivers (sound card, tv card), nero if you have it, and download the latest drivers then install them - first install the sound card driver. I have seen this problem a couple of times and this helped.

XP with no sound

install the Intel INF Patch 4, then RESTART your comp, you have the Realtek driver install again

DON'T FORGET THE SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING EACH DRIVER

Audio poblem in vista basic home edition


Please check in the DeviceManager of WinXp for the exact sound device under  Sound Video and game controllers tab.After that goto driverguide.com and download the vista driver for that sound card.

Hi sachin. Copy the model number of your sound card from the motherboard's CD and search for the drivers in the corresponding vendor's site. You will definitely find the drivers on the site. Else , just post the model of the sound device, i will you the link to the driver download.

You should be able to download a driver for free.  Go to the website for the manufacturer of your audio device.

Realtek HDA driver


The driver you are installing needs more requirements. try to install driver from mother board CD. If not try to download realtek HD driver compatible to your processor.
