    Its most definately something to do with overheat, however I does give me any LED indications, and can turn the unit back on within 15 seconds, it lasts ofr another 10 minutes and shuts down again after a slight period of colour flicking.

Hi,

A couple of initial suggestions:

  • try a hard reset, unplug from the mains for at least an hour and try again;
  • reference these FixYa pages; 1, 2.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

That was not the bulb, your old bulb is still fine, when the bulb needs replacement, it turns off, do not start flashing.

Reasons for this can be a fault in the small board powering the lamp, a fault on the main board, or a bad cable or connector.

When it is properly overheating, it means that the unit is developing more than the normal amount of heat, and for this reason it shuts down (do not stays on flashing).
In your case , is more likely a faulty component, like a defective IC, that is manifesting the fault only after a while.

You can try inscecting the connectors (always power unplugged), checking if there is excessive dust on the inside and eventually hoovering it (from distance not to damage components inside), and eventually, carefully removing and putting back lamp. I don't think that will fix it, but you can try.

To fix this you will probably need a technician. If you decide to call for repairs, you can use the phone number listed on the owner manual to contact factory service.

I have an Optima Model EP719 Projector. Suddenly I am getting white vertical lines and can't find a solution for removing them.

I would try switching out the DVI cable first. It could be faulty. This would be the easiest and cheapest solution to check.

take the lamp out and shake the projector gently and tilt it in all directions and listen for something loose near the front of the projector. if you hear something it could be the light tunnel has collasped or the colowheel has lost its segments.

some dry out, and you can't tell by looking at them. see if the colorwheel is spinning. if it chirps before it shuts down, or if it doesn't spin at all, replace it. otherwise replace the ballast.
