Im assuming you refer to the code P1847. This translates as "Transmission Transfer Case Contact Plate 'A' Open Circuit".
This is a fault on the electronics on the transfer box under the car. That's the gearing box that splits the drive between front wheels and rear wheels. It also controls your High and Low ratios for the gearbox.
These gearboxes were notorious for failing the reverse gear. The reverse gear wears out easily and keeps popping out. You can try shifting the gearbox into 3rd gear before going into reverse. This helps align the syncros in the tranny. Of course make sure you are not moving or if you are have the clutch depressed when shifting.
