My hood dont open on my 06 hyundai sonata can i reach the latch wit my hand under the car

more info needed but if part of the cable is showing grasp the cable with vise grips and pull. If the cable moves and hood does not open you can go through the front grill area and find lever to hood latch or cable and try to open it that way

First clamp down on the outer part of the cable you can see with vice grips so you compress the outer part of the cable on the inner part.and give it a good tug.Go ahead and break the outer part off the latch if you have to, You may have to pull that hard to open it.

First thing to do is press down on the hood with both hands on the front near the center. This is to see if the latch or hood is just stuck, If the cable release is broken, then it becomes a huge job and depending on the car, you have to get under it and remove any covers between the frame and the grill and see if you can reach the latch, on some cars you can take the front wheel off and reach the latch. Look through the grill etc. You make have to unbolt the latch or use a wire hooked to the lever, if none of that works you can take the car to a body shop as opposed to a general mechanic because they are cheaper.

cable could be broke or stretched. get under front of car if possible locate cable and pull it. this depends on type of car

Have someone push down on the hood over the hood latch area while you pull the release, that may work. Once it is open lube everything up with white Lithium grease also known as "LUBRIPLATE:"

ya i recently had my battery go bad on me. 06 sonata is @ 58k. previous to the battery issue had noted as irritating and strange as it is that my hood latch was not releasing, so after a tow to the shop and a 3 day rental...parts and labor was over$500. the very nxt week even tho i asked them to take a look as id had the ESC off light illuminiate vry sporadically recently. was "noted and light is off now" by the shop. 3 days out of shop light on again....back in shop a week after first. now i'm being told the entire ESC electronics system needs to be replaced at just under $600. i am starting to suspect i shud have gone w a honda.

the cable is probably pinched or ceased in its cover, you will probably have to replace the cable, as to getting the hood open, you can try reaching up from under the car and pulling on the cable right at the latch, but you should probably get a mechanic to do it because if they break anything that isnt broke, its on them to replace it.

reach in from either under the hood. Turn and pull out harness and bulb, replace and reinstall
