It's not the OS... Honestly i'm a computer technician but not a programmer... i'm just asking for some opinion. anyway, it is an AGP motherboard but it is not mean that it is old and only new computer has the capacity to run new games... As a technician i know that DUAL CORE PROCESSOR is NOT recommended for gaming.. it is not made for gaming... It is developed as use in terms of resources and other programs... I DO NOT ACCEPT THE FACT THAT DUAL CORE PROCESSOR HAD MANY IN COMPATIBILITY IN USING IT FOR GAMING... i'M just seeking for second opinion... i do not want to expense money to buy new processor like QUAD CORE just to play games coz i dont hav money... if i had money i dont seek help here becoz i know that my processor Dual Core is not intended for gaming unlike AMD Processor and the new one QUAD CORE.... .BUT ANYWAY THANKS FOR TRYING davidzou2131.... I appreciate it.... You can also ask me for some help in terms of technicallity specially PC.... Thanks Dude...!

Hi basti_wolf25, I have the same problem as yours. It's extremely frustrating.
I played games with lower requirements and it hangs too.

The computer seem to work fine when not running games, anything that is not using graphic card. But I do not think that it's the graphic card problem.

    P.S : I'm currently using a Radeon 9550.

The graphic card usually crashes due to over heating. Keep the gpu cool. you may use a pedestal fan as well.

I want to buy a graphics card. i want to run programming applications and games with graphics requirements (NFS series), HD support will do but not necessary. My current system : 3.06GHz P4 HT processor,...

The GeForce FX5500 is an AGP Card (which is WAY outdated). Your board has a PCI-Express x16 slot (which is a good thing) so if you are planning to play games in the ilk of the NFS series, you can get an nVidia GT, GTS or GTX series card (I only assume you plan to get an nVidia-branded card; you still have options of purchasing ATI 4000- to 5000-series cards as well). these cards serve the purpose of entry-level to mid-range games. The only limitation of your rig would be the processor since it's a single core; but with 3 GHz & 2GB of RAM, you can play almost the entire NFS series up to Undercover, Shift & World. I'm not sure about Shift 2 & The Run: I think they require 2 cores at least.

I have computer that works well when i am surfing internet but not when i play online games such as Grand Chase, Crossfire, Warcraft, etc. before i forget i have a video card installed. thanks in advance

The problem is most likely that you have a computer that isn't powerful enough to run the latest games. It's not only the video card that makes these games run. It's the amount of RAM and processor speed, along with a good video card. That is what makes games run.

Basic gaming specifications
At least a dual-core processor
Definitely over 1GB of RAM
A graphics card with 256MB of VRAM

Those specifications are the minimum required for the latest games to run.

Hope this helps.
Thanks. :)

When i try to play the game i get fatal error msg

The error message means that your video card "ATI Visontek Radeon 9250" does not meet the game requirements.

Your video card Pixel Shader Version is 1.4 , and Devil May Cry 4 needs at least Pixel Shader 3.0 or higher support.

To play the game you need to upgrade your video card, to meet the minimum requirements for the game you need a video card like the ATI Radeon X700 or the Nvidia GeForce 6600.

The requirements list for the game as available in the "ReadMe" file for the game Devil May Cry 4 is mentioned below.

System Requirements
----------------------------------------
Operating System: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP *1, Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(TM) *1

-CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processor supporting HT Technology or higher
(Recommended: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo processor or higher)

-Main Memory: Windows(R) XP : at least 512MB (Recommended: at least 1GB)
Windows Vista(TM) : at least 1GB (Recommended: at least 2GB)

-Video Card: DirectX(R)9.0c/Shader3.0 compatible, VRAM256MB,
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 6600 series or higher
*excluding NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 7300 series

(Recommended: NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 8600 series or higher)

-Sound Card: DirectX(R)9.0c compatible sound cards

-DVD-ROM Drive: DVD9 compatible drive

-Monitor: 640x480 (VGA) or higher (Recommended: 1280x720 or higher)

-Input Devices: Mouse & Keyboard required (Recommended: Xbox 360(R) Controller for Windows(R))
