Hello,

Without the specifics, I would initially assume that it may either be the power supply or the motherboard, or both that has been damaged. That is very common after lightning.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

2004 envoy won't start after my house got struck by lightening. Coincidence?

Yes the lighting likely burned out the car's electronic control module(s). Contact your insurance company, this can be a very expensive repair.

What is the likely culprit to troubleshoot on a tv that will not power on and there is no standby light after a lightening strike in the area and fried Directv recievers and tvs?

Hi , it sounds as if the av board is probably fried but it probably did not stop there it may not be worth getting it checked out as that's just another bill to tell you its not worth repairing. Take time to think about it. But get it checked if you wish there is a lot of power in a lightning strike. It could fry one board and pass through the next as they are usually connected.

Why won't my TV turn on after a storm?

Your TV might very easily be destroyed now, from lightening damage. Lightening can come in on the cable, on the power line, all sorts of unexpected ways. I've personally been struck by lightening, plenty hard enough to destroy almost any electronic device... and I was working in a basement at the time.

Dehumidifier not coming on at all

I hope it is only the fuse, but lightening can damage lots of things.
If the dehumidifier has an electronic component, like a thyristor or worse an integrated circuit, it is likely that part is damaged.
So if it has something like a wireless remote control there is damage.
It is the very fast change in electronic field caused by he lightening, what will induce a current in the electronic equipment causing the damage.
Als read ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) and EMP. Although the change in EMP is much faster than in lightning.

Stereo clicking sound

OH dear! Lightening is not friendly with electronic equipment. A clicking sound is almost certainly the relays dropping the power supply out and then re-trying. If you are lucky you may only have fried your rectifier diodes. This, and any other fried devices should be obvious with a visual inspection. Sorry, not much help. Do you have lightening damage insurance?

Sony trinitron color tv ,model no.kv-G14Q2,70W,SER NO. 2266941.was struck by lightenning and now can not power or ever do any other operation. what can i do to bring it back to normal.

If your set was struck by lightening then God Help! you must be lucky.
A first hand look into the set is important to see the extend of the damage and if you see burned boards then it will be bettter to go for a full replacementt of the board.Check cost and decide.
However if you are lucky you can have basic faults in the power section, fuse, surge protector, rectifier, capacitor or the Sm driver.
If fault in the tuner side and there is damage there is no hope.

I have a Toshiba 27AF43 27 inch television that no longer powers on at all. We had a lightning strike right next to our house and it tripped our breaker box. When I flipped it back on all other electronics...

Lightening does a LOT of damage, I wouldn`t have it repaired and I`d contact my house insurance immediately. I`ve repaired lightening damaged sets before only to find that the set only lasts a short period before different fault appears and once you make a claim on the insurance for a repair, they won`t pay out again for another repair on the same set. The problem you`ve got is when the lightening hit the power line, it sent a transient or high voltage pulse through your power lines. The computer and a lot of the other circuits in your set only run at about 5 volts. If your TV power is normally 240 volts like ours is and the transient pulse rises 1,000%, (In practice a lot higher than this) in effect the power lines in your home will have risen momentarily to 2,640 volts. This means that the other voltages in the set will have risen proportionally with the input voltage meaning that the 5 volt lines will have risen to 55 volts which would either destroy the circuits on that line or as you will find out later if you have the set repaired, weaken the circuits which may survive for a short period until you`re sat down watching your favorite TV program and one of these components decide to give up. Take my advice and claim for a replacement set, You`ve been warned. Ian
