Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

Airlock in new machine

I have a brand new Gaggia Classic and have followed the instructions for priming the pump, including trying to run the steam. The motor is obviously running but no water from the brew head nor steam from the frother. Is there some other trick to getting the machine started?

I have a similar problem, I think. I get water through the steam thing,
but not through the brew head. Not sure what to do either.

I have since been told to try using hot water in the water reservoir to get the machine going and hey presto it worked. All going fine now

I have a brand new gaggia baby class. Have followed instructions, but only get cold water pouring from around, not through the brew head and nothing from the steamer. Have e-mailed mail order company and they say FORCE it to make hot water and steam, but so far little other explanation, I think machine is faulty, Have sent several tankfuls of water through the machine. Pump appears to be working - at least it makes a noise. any ideas?

I have a brand new Classic and can't clear an airlock by following the advice in the instruction manual. Is the unit faulty?

Try to clear the airlock by having the steam knob open at the same time as the coffee switch is on.
This allows any air to come out of the group head and the steam arm.

Started up gaggia classic for the 1st time today. followed the instructions in the manual but when switching on the pump, it made ery loud noise and no hot water or steam apeared through the nozzle or...

You need to let this happen for awhile until the pump "primes" or fills all the way with water. Let the it run with the noise for awhile. Also, let it sit for at least 20 minutes before you start running the pump.

HI
Call who ever you bought it from and have them diagnose the problem. I think you have a disconnected hose or something worse.

Gaggia won't prime

Put a cup under the steam wand and then open the steam valve while turning the pump on. Once you have pumped a few ounces of water out of the steam wand you can close the valve and it will start pushing water through the grouphead.

No steam

Is the coffee hot or cold?

If hot then the steam wand is clogged, try inserting a paperclip in the hole(Remove the parnello black plastic covering silver steam wand) at the end of the nozzle.

If cold then the element is not heating, if you remove the top panel on the machine there is a thermostat on the boiler. That might be damaged, some of them are resettable (it will have a red or brown pin in the middle) if it is a resettable one then push in the pin, if not then it will have to be replaced.
