Ok, so I just searched Google for about 5 hours trying to figure out how to fix the USBest USB2flashStorage USB problem. What happened is the part of the memory that tells the computer how to access the drive and how big the drive is got corrupted. You need a program called "Super Stick Recovery Tool" made by kingmax. Don't worry that your drive isn't a kingmax drive, it will work anyway because it is just going to completely write over that little part of the drive that got corrupted. just go to "http://www.kingmax.com/en_04_download.asp?usn=2" and download
Super Stick Recovery Tool V1.0.2.19.rar
you can open the rar file with winrar or 7-zip. Inside is
Super Stick Recovery Tool V1.0.2.19.exe. Run it as administrator with the drive plugged in and click "Update"
about 5 minutes later-- Problem solved!

*Warning* This erases everything on the drive, I have no clue how to get data off of it before you do this, but at least you can have a working jump drive rather than a paper weight.

Just so you know, I only tested this on a Verbatim 8 Gb drive that had the exact same problems you described. I tried lots of other tools and they didn't work. Super Stick Recovery Tool Rocks!

12/10/2010: This program is the absolute Best!!! I am a tinkerer with freeware and components and I used my Thumb Drive religiously. I did not want to give in and chuck the Drive. SullyDog...you are the best! New version of the program is even better. I got my drive back and will attempt to recover what I can in personal files. Completely satisfied. Highly recommended!!!!!

Hey, if anyone is having a problem with the usbest usb2 flash storage pens, try my solution! I was having the problem - computer recognizes, but when selected says 'please insert disc into drive d'.after searching the net, with no luck, I decided to open it up (its really easy, just unclips). Then I just moved the silver cylindrical thing a few times. I then inserted the usb and the L.E.D flashed once, good sign! The icon on bottom right of screen said unknown device, not installed properly.which was unusual. I then took the pen out, and put it in slowly, just untill the light came on.after the pc installed it, I could insert it all the way, and its been working fine ever since!hope this helps someone! d

VAIO desktop does not recognize Sandisk flash drive

Most probably you have a drive letter conflict? If so, right click "My computer" choose "Manage" and locate "Disk management" - here, in the middle lower panel, you should be able to find your usb-memory stick, right click it and assign it a drive letter that you're sure is not in use.

Dvd-rom sd-616E driver no longer recognized by

Reboot the computer and go into the BIOS, see if its recognized in there, if its not recognized then you'll need to turn the computer off and unseat and reseat the cable and the power connector to the dvd drive. Then turn on the computer again and go into the BIOS, if the dvd drive is still not recognzied then you'll need to replace the drive.

If the dvd drive is recognized in the BIOS and not in windows then you'll need to go into the system restore in windows and choose a date the last time the computer was working, it will restore your computer back to this date and reboot. At that point it should recognize your dvd drive. If it doesn't then your OS is corrupt and you'll need to wipe out the drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults.

Laptop does not recognize the flash-drive after it's pluged in.

there are some reasons why it does not work.
1- You do not have correct drivers for the flash drive, and the computer will not recognize the product. simply update the driver for the flash drive and it will work. To do this go to the flash drive companies site and search for product driver updates
2- You have damaged your flash drive to the point where windows will not even recognize it. To prove this, plug multiple usb devices into the port and test if they work, and test the flash drive in different ports in your laptop and other PCs. If it is still not working, then it is faulty and will not work. Purchase a new one if this is the case

Hope This Helps

Can't find flash drive on my computer after inserted into USB port.....Comes up saying not in right port..I have transferred photos onto it several weeks ago, but can no longer retrive them from the flash...

Try removing the USB drives from the Device Manager, then power down, plug in the flash drive and power backup again.
Win should find the drive and reinstall drivers and recognize the drive again.

Despite improvements in the behavior of Widows, it is also still advisable to 'turn off' a removable drive before unplugging it.
If you system is pretty much standard, you should find the drive symbol with an arrow indicating 'remove' on your task bar to the right.
Left-lick on that symbol and it will bring up a short menu of any removable drives and then just click on the one you want to pull.

Pleomax 6gb USB Drive No Longer Recognized by My Computers

It's either the USB port, the drive electronics itself, or the USB cable.

First I'd try a different USB cable.
