I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a 2wire modem/router combo. The wireless internet connections work flawlessly with all wireless laptops, phones, games, etc. I cannot access the internet on the pc itself...

You may have a problem with your IP and DNS settings. Please use the instructions below

Go to Control Panel>Network Connections and select your local network.Click Properties, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).Click Properties. You will see a window like the one below. Please make sure that the settings are all set to automatic for your IP4 and/or IP6 connections.

If that doesn't work, please try to renew your ip settings.

This can be done with the following steps:
1. Open cmd.exe
Windows XP: Start - Run - cmd.exe
Vista/7: Window Button - type "cmd.exe" - Enter
2. Type "ipconfig/release"
3. Type "ipconfig/renew"
4. Wait for connection to establish.

There is certain bug in the window vista which uses to make delays in the situation like restart. You just have to do is update your vista through window updates( i.e. Turn on your window updates.) This will removes this patch. Up till the full update of service pack 3 is gain you can just do is remove all temp and prefetch files(type in run : temp; %temp% and prefetch) this will gain some what boost to your vista.
