Question about MagLite - Mag Charger System 110v (M) Model - RX1019

1 Answer

Maglight Rechargeable When ever I put the rubber switch cover in my mag, I can not turn the light off, but when I remove it, the switch works just like it is supposed to. Is this a common problem and if so, is there an easy fix or should I just leave the cover off.

How do I change the switch in a maglight xl50?

Pop the rubber cover out . it is shaped like a little hat, the full brim snapped in a groove keeping it in place. I've found it best to pinch it and pull it out diagonally with a spiral motion rather than using sharp tools. Down in the center of the plastic button switch is a Allen hex set screw. That engages the housing on the opposite side. Loosen this and as long as there is no corrosion it should slide right out. The switch itself may not be bad ,just it's connection to the housing. Or the battery cap, spring, housing negative circuit.. Oops big spanner nut on bulb side of switch. And it must come out this way.

Controls won't respond

Does the battery indicator light up. If it does then remove the rubber seat cover to expose the seat safety switch then turn power on hold seat switch down and try the throttle if the cart moves then try to put 2 10 x 10 pieces of card board on top of the foam directly above the seat switch then put the rubber cover back on.If it doesn't then have the on off switch and batteries checked or contact amigo for the nearest service company in your area (1-800-my-amigo)

The last battery in my 3-cell Maglight (closest to the end, farthest from the bulb) has leaked acid out inside the tube /handle and caused the battery to get stuck, I can't get it out to clean it up and...

Unscrew the lens and remove the bulb, then get a small disposable container and fill it about an inch full with WD-40, or a similar de-seizing fluid. submerge the stuck end in the fluid for a few minutes and it should come off without issue. Make sure to clean the tube completely before replacing the bulb, lens, and batteries.

MAGLITE D- Cell : Push button off/on switch is stuck in the on(down) position and won't release to the up(off) position. Any suggestions? Thx!

Try gently pulling up the rubber cover for the switch. use a butter knife to gently pull it free. Then you should be able to see the switch button itself. Try a *small* drop of a plastic safe lubricant. Or try a small spray of silicone lubricant. This should free it up. If not Mag Light has replacements, and they do offer a lifetime warranty. Here are the switch replacement instructions

We have a maglite that holds 5 or 6 D batteries and some liquid in rubber has now caused the on/off switch to no longer work. Is there something that can be done?

You could leave the torch in the cupboard near the hot water tank for a few days and the switch might dry out .The contacts have probably corroded at this stage though

How do you check the switch on a rechargeable mag-lite

There's not much that can go wrong with the switch but things do happen.
I can tell you how to remove the SWITCH then you can go to to order a new switch if you then think that's what the problem is. However, I do not know how to actually 'test' the SWITCH itsself to determine if it is defective. I have the rechargeable model which is nearly 20yrs old and it developed the same issue about 10yrs ago. I simply removed the old switch, ordered a new one, installed it and now have a happy light.
Let me know and I will send you instructions. :)

Corroded batteries stuck in a mini AA maglite

yes the bulb assy can be removed as it's basically the switch you need like a special tool for removing it. but first which brand of battery is in it. both energizer and Duracell have warranty about replacing item that the battery has damaged. try that route is my suggestion before trying to remove batteries and possibly breaking the switch. you can get one sent to you by calling up customer service as i replaced one before mini mag lite also.

Rechargeable mag light not working .

when you dropped it you probably knocked the contacts inside out of place. or you broke a soldered connection. if you can take it apart you can most likely fix this yourself. when you remove the front lens assembly there is a retaining clip that you need to remove so you can take the guts out.....please rate this
