Question about MagLite - Mag Charger System 110v (M) Model - RX1019

1 Answer

Maglight Rechargeable When ever I put the rubber switch cover in my mag, I can not turn the light off, but when I remove it, the switch works just like it is supposed to. Is this a common problem and if so, is there an easy fix or should I just leave the cover off.

Where do I send my Maglite for repair?

hello
the warranty details and the address are here Albert. Good choice in flashlights, but you may wish to look at LED units. The technology has moved on, and Cree LEDs are incredibly bright for the size. Some comapnies make LED modules for Maglight. I have one.

How do I remove batteries that are corroded in a 3 "d" cell maglight?

I would find out the battery brand, leave the batteries in the re, and ship the whole thing back to duracell for a new flash light and a bunch of batteries. They always replace anything their batteries destroy, and they are good about it. I had a maglight that I couldn't get the batteries out of, and got a brand new one, and a bunch of batteries. Hope this helps.

How do you check the switch on a rechargeable mag-lite

There's not much that can go wrong with the switch but things do happen.
I can tell you how to remove the SWITCH then you can go to www.maglite.com to order a new switch if you then think that's what the problem is. However, I do not know how to actually 'test' the SWITCH itsself to determine if it is defective. I have the rechargeable model which is nearly 20yrs old and it developed the same issue about 10yrs ago. I simply removed the old switch, ordered a new one, installed it and now have a happy light.
Let me know and I will send you instructions. :)

Removal of end cap

Most likley cause is that the batteries in the flashlight have leaked and has caused the threads on the end cap and flashlight to become fused. If at all possible, try to stand the end of the flashlight in a small plastic container with some PB Blaster, or other decent penetraiting oil, (WD-40 doesn't do very well in this situation).

After letting it soak overnight a good 24 hours, put the body of the flashlight into a vice, preferably with rubber or plastic jaws/protectors to keep from galling up the body of the light. Use a good sized pipe wrench to lossen the end cap and spray some penetrating oil onto the threads as you expose more, until loose. You will mark up the end cap, but you'll get it off. Once off, remove the batteries and use some baking soda to neutralize the battery acid. Rinse with water to clean and let dry. Remove any obstructions inside the battery tube with a wooden chopstick, or end of a wooden spoon (so as not to gouge or damage the aluminum tube) Get as much of this crude out and wipe dry.

You should be able to freely insert and remove the batteries, if not, keep cleaning the crude until the batteries go in and out easily.

Last ditch approach is to return the light to Maglight for them to repair and service. They'll return the light to you just like new, but there will be a charge for their service. Just check their web site for repair details.

Corroded batteries stuck in a mini AA maglite

yes the bulb assy can be removed as it's basically the switch you need like a special tool for removing it. but first which brand of battery is in it. both energizer and Duracell have warranty about replacing item that the battery has damaged. try that route is my suggestion before trying to remove batteries and possibly breaking the switch. you can get one sent to you by calling up customer service as i replaced one before mini mag lite also.

Rechargeable mag light not working .

when you dropped it you probably knocked the contacts inside out of place. or you broke a soldered connection. if you can take it apart you can most likely fix this yourself. when you remove the front lens assembly there is a retaining clip that you need to remove so you can take the guts out.....please rate this

Rechargeable maglite

Unless you are using your Mag. in extreme dusty, dirty conditions, it is not necessary to take it apart for cleaning. The Mag. is sealed against dirt and moisture. Mags are about the best lite made but always remember; 'Anything man made is subject to fail and usually at the most inconvenient time.' If I knew exactly where you are at in the dissasembly I could help you reassemble it. However, barring that;
Go to; www.maglite.com, they can help you with what ever you need.
Good luck. :)
