Is this a power vented system if so check the ventr motor . it must run first alowing the gravity swtch to make and send 24v to the gas valve- if its not a vented unit sounds likely you have a main valy or posibly a mercury or thermo couple problem. hope this helps.

Honeywell thermostat won't turn on

There could be a number of issues associated with this issue. #1 bad thermostat, #2 no low voltage from the furnace or air handler, #3 if gas furnace, no pilot(standing pilot units or bad ignition system). If you have a fan switch on the thermostat turn it to on and see if the blower comes on. I would also check to make sure the breaker is turned on. Over the years I have found many things that all have the end result you are seeing. I just named a few things you can try.

The 2 flashes on the screen and the furnace will not turn on. The 2 indicates the time frame program which is correct but why flashing? Owners manual does not address.

I had two flashes on a Honeywell 8670 continuous retry controller to my Burnham power vent natural gas furnace. In my furnace the two flashes meant the last attempt at starting failed and it was going to retry in 90 seconds.

In my case the furnace actually had two intermittent problems with similar codes. The first issue was the high voltage pilot light cable was also a combination flame sensor wire. The cable was supposed to clamp on to the pilot assembly like a spark plug wire.

When it was installed the clamping bits were too far apart and some fool decided since it wasn't sticking he would glue it on. This worked initially, but later the connection was only good enough to pass the high voltage not the low current DC signal back to the controller indicating the flame started successfully. Flames conduct a small amount of electricity due to ionization and the controller senses this.

I pinched the clamping bits together with some pliers. Then it fit tight and kept working.

Other reasons for the 2 flash code on my controller might be no gas or pilot light failure.

My other problem was a partially failed capacitor on my power vent motor caused the vent fan to run in reverse on say one in one hundred start attempts. Once it started running in reverse it wouldn't run forward without stopping it completely, which took several minutes of off time. The capacitor was available quickly and inexpensively from McMaster Carr.

Furnace does not start

Furnaces usually have a high temp limit switch that turn off the gas if the plenum gets too hot, as it may if the fan fails (or air flow is restricted) and the furnace is running. These are in series with the gas valve so if they fail open will prevent the furnace from ever turning on.
Trace the circuit from the transformer through each component (including the thermostat) and check for an open circuit at each location. Replace the one that has an open circuit.
Also check the fan to be sure it is working properly when you directly connect power to it.

Do you have 24 volts at the gas valve terminals when the pressure switch closes?

Intertherm furnace M1BG wont fire

Make sure the gas valve is turned to the ON position after you had it in PILOT position. Also check the thermostat low voltage wiring @ furnace...jumper the Red & White wires to bypass the thermostat temporarily. Make sure there is 24 volts on you low voltage circuit.

Honeywell manuals

Turn the fan in the ON position to verify you have power to the furnace. If the fan turns on, turn it back to AUTO. Pull the thermostat off the wall to get to the low voltage wiring. If you have a gas furnace, pull the red & white wires off and pinch them together. If the furnace starts, the thermostat is bad. If it doesn't start, then begin looking for flame roll out switches in the furnace burner compartment to manually reset. If the furnace inducer (combustion motor starts, & you get no flame, then it is either an ignition problem, or someone didn't pay their gas bill. :0

Replaced mercury thermostat w/Honeywell CT87K - doesn't work!

You need a specific thermostat for a Wall Furnace it is a Millivolt Thermostat and not a 24v standard thermostat....usually it will work anyway however if the powerpile (generator produces millivolts from the pilot light) is weak it may not be producing enough...or the Pilot light may be dirty and lazy...won't produce enough millivolts ...or you can have bad or dirty contacts or connections....or a combination of any of the above.....a 24v Thermostat and particularly a non-mercury thermostat has too much resistance in it for a millivolt system....as your Wall Furnace (other than the fan) runs on less than 1 volt

replace the gas valve....test for 24volt at the gas valve input.  if you have this then it's a def gas valve relay not working.
