Question about Kenmore 44072 Front Load Washer

Can not change Cycle setting

I have a Kenmore front load washer, model 44072. For the past few weeks, the washer will not allow me to change the "CYCLES" setting. It is currently on the Heavy Duty setting and no matter what I try, I can not change the cycle setting the other selections; such as Normal, silk etc...

I tried everything I can including pulling the power cord and plugging it back in hopefully to re-set the control panel with still no success. I was able to change the cycle selection for the past two years....but now it will not allow me to change to any other selection. I have also noticed that the "TEMPS" selection is starting to do the same thing, but with a bit of patience, I can get it to switch to other selections. Thanks....Dan

I wonder if it's the control board that needs replacing ??? found a note on www.managemyhome.com saying...(part no 134207700 according to my parts list). Is there anything unique/special in replacing the control board... here are the instructions for it...if you try this, pelase let me know...

Replacing the control board is just a matter of removing wires from the old control board and installing them on the new one. It is an electronic board and can be damaged by static electricity so you have to touch some ground points with you hands before touching the control board.
To access the control board remove the top panel from the washer. There are 2 screws in the rear of the washer holding the top on.
With the top removed you will see three screws going down from the top holding the control panel to the cabinet of the washer; remove them.
Lift the control panel up and it will come loose. The control is mounted to the control panel with some screws.

I have a kenmore front load washer model 970-c42072. I'm experiencing a loud noise in the drum on the spin cycle even when it is empty no matter what setting (slow normal fast) What would be the...

If you turn the inner wash drum by hand, what kind of noise do you hear? If it is a thumping kind of noise, it would mean that the spider support arms are broken. If the noise is a loud rumbling sound, similar to a jet engine when it is spinning, it would mean that you have a bearing seal failure and the bearings need to be replaced. Either problem is a big job to fix since the entire washer needs to be taken apart. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing. Sorry.

During the spin cycle the front load washer makes a loud noise. Sounds like a bearing going bad.

Kenmore front load washer #44072 drum banging noise

2 possible issues with your washer.
1 or both the support shocks or springs have broken
the drum would look off center even when empty
or rear bearring has worn out.
this is a very common problem with the fridgidaire washer... (this kenmore is a frigidaire model)
problem is caused by very hard water (well water) or improper use of detergent. this machine uses a High efficency type detergent, marked by "HE" on the detergent container

Shutting down on rinse cycle

Hi this could means that you may need to replace the washing machine bearings. Once the bearings are bad, the motor overheats and it will automatically shut down after the first rinse.

Kenmore front load washer

My Kenmore front-load washer starts to make the huge noise. The noise happens during the wash cycle, but is mild. During the spin cycle, the noise becomes really loud. It looks like the drum is getting loose and hitting other part of the machine.
I checked the drum, and I can sway the drum easily with my hand. So it looks some supporting structure is broken. I don't know if it is easy to open the washer to check what has been broken.
