Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator
Our Whirlpool Refrigerator ET21GKXHW Refrigerator won't cool anything. It just blows the air around. The compressor tries to start, but then shuts down. I had a repairman come to look at it and he put an ampmeter on one of the wires in the back. Everytime the compressor tries to start, it pulls upwards of 17-20 amps and then shuts down.
The repairman said that it is the compressor that has gone bad. Does this sound right? The system has been completely error free for 7 years and just stopped now.
That's about right, if the compressor is drawing more than 4 amperes, then it is no good.
A reminder also to check the condenser for dirt and debris that could have accumulated at the front, this is a major contributor to compressor failure. check also the fan near the compressor. it should be running at the same time the compressor runs.
that's nice to hear from whirlpool....
good luck tapperal,
