If you did a hard reset and it still doesn't connect, not even to windows explorer, you most likely have a broken logic board, (defective flash memory). You can try to replace the board yourself if you are confident with cracking things open, there are guide websites that teach you iPod repair skills but you should have a little bit of tech background to do so.

I am having a problem syncing my ipod with itunes. it synchs about 140 songs and then does not respond. I have tried everything from reboot, reinstalling, restoring and formatting the ipod.

I actually fixed the problem.... I change the letter of the drive that the ipod was showing e.g, IPOD (G:) changed to IPOD (I:).

You have to plug in the ipod, right click on my computer and go into Manage.

You then click on Disk Management, highlight ipod in the right hand pane. You then right click ipod and chang the letter of the drive.

Then disconnect the ipod, reconnect and restore and hey presto!

I can't get my songs onto my iPod Nano

The Ipod or the USB cable may be defective.
Try first connecting the Ipod to a different computer to test it, or using a different data cable.

If Ipod works, then do the following.

Unplug computer power cable, and if it is a laptop or a macbook also remove battery for ten minutes. This will get rid of elecrostatic charges on USB connectors.
If that does not work try reinstalling Itunes, this will synch the Ipod again with the computer.

WE BOUGHT A NANO CHROMATIC SEVERAL WEEKS AGO FOR A 7 YEAR OLDS XMAS PRESENT WE CONNECTED AND SYNCHED TO ITUNES AND PRELOADED MUSIC AND PHOTOS ON THERE, IT WAS FULLY CHARGED WHEN WE WRAPPED IT IT WAS OPENED...

Have you also tried this:
  • Turn on then off the Hold switch
  • with the ipod connected to the pc press and hold the Select AND Menu buttons together till the apple symbol appears.
  • If that doesnt work try holding Select and Play (this loads up disk mode). If that loads it will say something like Disconnect on the ipod screen. Now press Select and menu.
If none of these work then there is something more serious wrong with the device and it needs taking back to the Apple Store. Tip: Book an appointment with a 'Genius' online before you go.

All the best

Try it on another computer and if it happens its the ipod. Or try restalling itunes with the lates version (7.7.1)
If that doesnt work try using a different program for your ipod eg Jriver media center

Ipod Mini - Disk Error "cannot be read from or written to"

you need to format, full format, use windows explorer, right click on ipod then format, not quick, then load itunes, should give you the option to restore, do this, then should automatically sync music as long as you don't tick the manual manage box.

Not synching correctly with itunes music folder

I know another way you could try formatting which may fix this problem. Restoreing just restores all the setting to your iPod yes it shoudl format as well but it may not due to an error or something.

To do try it another way follow these steps, first click on "Start" - "My Computer" look for you iPod when it's connect usually called "Removable Disk" once you've found it "Right-click" on it then click on "Format", once format is complete disconnect, then connect it again then run "Update" for your iPod and for iTunes, once you've done that have another attempt.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems leave a comment and i will get back to you.
