Question about Toshiba SD-6915 Multi-disc DVD Player

Open Question

Do not Play movie copies

I love movie, but the kids always damage the disc, I start make copy from the original movie, just to don't let to touch the original disc. They play nice in the computer, (we have 3), but in the Toshiba Player Model: SD-6915SU (Play DVD-R, DVD+R,DVD-RW, DVD+RW,etc) at the half of the movie, go frezee and no more movie. I put off the player, (the only option), them whem I press play, I can see only from the beginning (again) to the moment it stop in the first place. If I try from the scene selection, dont work (go frozen again) even if I select the scene after.

I like to now if some body make a update for the firmware, about this problem or any solution.

SOURCE: Can only play DVDs for one region code.

Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.

SOURCE: Toshiba SD-5000 DVD Player - disc tray stuck

Try first turning off the player and turn it back on and eject it using the eject button on the unit and also try to eject it using the remote.. IF still wont eject this can be a mechanical function on the ejecting part of the unit that you may need to open the unit and check for that..

Hope that helps.........

Purchased a dvd then learnt that dvd region codes exist. is there a way to watch region 1 dvd in region 4. dvd is 'mac and me' and is my favourite movie from childhood. really want my kids to...

With a DVD ripping program like Mac the Ripper or Magic DVD Ripper you can remove the region coding on a disc and copy it to a new DVD. These run on Mac and PC respectively, and you will need a DVD burner in your computer as well.

Keep in mind that you can legally make a copy of a DVD IF you follow certain rules:

1. You MUST keep the original disc and packaging to legally own the movie. If you get rid of the original you must destroy all backup copies as well.
2. You MUST NOT have more than one copy at a time, but you may make a second if your first one fails.
3. You MUST NOT give or sell a copy of the image (digitally or on a disc) to anyone else, or post it to any file sharing service. This is piracy and you can be prosecuted.

Play original movies only, no play copies and no burned copies

My parents had a Sony drive that was the same. The guy at the store says that some sony models have a chip that detects the type of disc and will only play originals.

Those discs have a very strong copy protection mechanism to avoid making digital copies on PC systems but some DVD players won't play them because of that, if you have the original movie, download a copy from the internet, burn it to a dvd-r disc and play it. It's perfectly legal because you already bought the movie. The downloaded copies have no copy protection and will play better than the original.
The PHILIPS DVD-Home theater players are specially picky about non-standar disk like the one you're trying to watch.

Best Media to use for DVD playback

The laser eyes on mobil units are relatively cheap and low quality. If you keep playing copied discs(any format), it will make them "tired"(out ot alignment) from trying to focus on low quality encoded discs and render it useless. Original discs are produced with equipments and programs that cost ten of thousands of dollars that why they tend to retain the encoded info longer even when exposed to direct sun light for times and easier for unit to read. But if you are like the rest of us going to junk that player after a couple of years in service then use Verbatim Platinum dvds, they are quite high in prices but retain info much better than others. But remember they are still copied discs not the original articles and might one day cause your players to fail completly. Goodluck.

Copying vhs on to dvd

There are two methods for copying - one is called "one-touch dubbing" and the other is called the "GUI Method".
For one touch dubbing obviously you have the tape and disc both inserted and have the tape at the position you would like to start copying. Press and hold the Copying button in the direction of the media you're copying to (in this case, the arrow pointing to the DVD) for 3 seconds and it will either start copying or will prompt you on-screen of the television...

If you are using a disc that can be finalized (anything other than DVD+RW or DVD-RAM), you will get a message on the TV that says press Record to record and finalize or press Play to record without finalizing.

The GUI method is to press Functions - Copy, then select the copy direction and start copying.

Before finalizing a disc, when you go to play back the video it always starts with the last recording, not the first. This is probably why you think there is no movie there other than the 10 seconds of Arby's commercial (mmm, Arby's). However, this is the purpose of the Direct Navigator function. If you access it, you should see thumbnails of all of your recordings. Once you finalize the disc and playback, it should start from the beginning.
