You do not need the CD to install the wireless router.

Assuming you have a dsl or Cable Internet connection established already, lets get you setup.

Plug the cable provided with the router into the cable/dsl modem.

You will need additional cable, for now, to plug your laptop into the router. Please do so now.

Your router will automatically assign an IP address to your laptop. It sould be

Your router will automatically assign an Gateway address to your laptop. It sould be

Your IP address is your physical address to therouter, Hense to the cable, Hense to the Web. Hense.

The Gateway IP is the actual IP used as the Gateway to the cable/DSL modem, hence, this is your actual connectivity. OK, let's get serious. The cable modem gets its IP information from you cable/DSL provider. This information is then collected by the router and the router assigns a local address thus allowing you to connect more than one device, (i.e. computer, printer, camera) and gain Internet access from that router. Its kind of like spoofing or fooling the system into thinking each device has its own address from the cable/DSL provder and allowing it to have a connection to the Web. I explain this as I feel understading how the router actually functions weill enable you to better utilize thenetwork and also protect your computer and devices from outside attacks.
An example:

The cable/DSL provider will provide the following:

Your Linksys Router takes this information, and makes it the base IP for its setup. It then allows you to assign a local address block for your network devices, called "Private" IP's. These are IP addresses that cannot or should not be found on the Internet.
An Example:

In the above example the Gateway address of is the physical address of the router. To verify this information Go to Start, Control Panel, Network, Locate your Local Area Connection. This is always the wired network card in your laptop. You should also see one for your wireless network card. We will not yet be working with this device, but remember where it is as we will be working with it soon. Right-click on the Local area connection and go to Status and left-click. On the tabs at the top of this window, click on the support tab. You should now ba looking at the addresses I talked about earlier. And if all is well, you quite possibly could be able to open your browser, Internet Explorer or Mozilla or Safari and access the Internet. Having said that let's configure the router.

I am going to take a short break and hope you understand all I have spoke of. I await you response and any questions you may have.

My name is Todd and I am here to help you. We will get you up and running in no time.

OK, please do what I wrote above and let me get a clearer picture of what linksys did for you? Otherwise, if you understand all of the above, please login to your router and click on the "Status" tab and send me that information. Send me all of the screens information.

Lost my installer cd for wrt160n v3

Many newer routers don't actually require an install CD to work.

Connect the ISP modem to the main network port. Now connect the computer to any other port. That's it. All done

This just refreshes your IP. In PC go to Start > Search (run in XP) and type cmd ENTER. In the command prompt type ipconfig /release ENTER. Then type ipconfig /renew ENTER.

I receive the 322 error when I´m trying to install my new WRT160N v3 Router, by Cisco.

I think you are trying to install the router using the CD. This CD has a bug. Even if your computer is connected to the router , it will say the computer is not connected to the router and it will give you error 322 or 321.
You can install the router without CD also.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem only.
connect the computer and the modem to the router and open the set up page of the router.
On the set up page you can change the settings of the router according to ISP.

Linksys WRT160N will not finish installing. On the 4th step it says your ethernet cable does not appear to be connected properly. Error 321. I don't really think its the ethernet cables because i tried 2...

error 321 or 322shows that the cable is not connected to the router and the computer.
That is actually a bug in the CD. Even if the cable is connected it shows that it is not connected.
You can set up the router manually, without the CD.

I have a WRT160N and when I put in the install CD it gives me an error code: Unable to load Module D:\issetup.dll Error Code 1114

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
