Re: All In One
Connect a phone to the line, call another phone that has caller ID, (such as a cell phone)
or send a blank page to a phone with caller ID.
It will only reject the call.
You might want to cancel the fax once you get the number, otherwise it might dial that number again.

Hi. You may be having a problem with the quality of connection. Check telephone cable for any physical defects. Try to plug printer in a different phone jack in the wall. Try to call your phone company to have the line checked, maybe they can do something to increase the quality of signal. Make sure that you already registered the user information like your fax name and your fax number in the fax by going to Fax mode > press Menu > Fax setup > Dialling and Sending > Your Fax Name or Your Fax Number. You can also decrease the transmission speed of your fax by going to Fax mode > press Menu > Fax setup > Dialling and Sending > Max Send Speed > change the speed to 9600 bps > hit check to save settings. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem with my Canon MX310. I think you have to set up a DRPD (distinctive ring), but I don't know how to do that. If I find out how to fix mine, I will come back to you and let you know
You need to set the machine up to AutoAnswer as follows per HP:
Receiving faxes automatically
If the Auto Answer option is set to
, the unit automatically answers incoming calls and receives faxes
after the number of rings specified by the Rings to Answer setting.
to turn on the Auto Answer option.
1: Setting the Auto Answer option
1 - Auto Answer button NOTE:
The Auto Answer button is lit when the Auto Answer option is turned on.
again to turn off the Auto Answer option.
While its possible, I doubt your doing it wrong...
Select [FAX], place the paper as indicated on the tray, type the number, and hit send. That's about it.
However, Fax machines will not send when attached to a digital phone network, used over IP phones, or in conjunction with DSL service without the lines being conditioned. This is a small device which hides the higher frequency noise from the fax machine. Any sort of signal shared on the lines may interfere with sending, recieving, or both. If you use DSL for example, I'd almost guarentee this is part of your problem.
