Many, many places have astronomical societies or clubs that welcome new people and host viewing events where you can look through all kinds and sizes of scopes. If there is a local college with an astronomy department, contact them, they will usually know of them in your area, otherwise search your community information. Take your scope to a view and there lots of nice folks that will be delighted provide some hands on instruction.

Need to know how to use the telescope after it is setup

Lorraine, join a club or get instruction book. An optical telescope which uses lenses is known as a refracting telescope or a refractor; one which uses a mirror is known as a reflecting telescope or a reflector. Besides optical telescopes, astronomers also use telescopes that focus radio waves, X-rays, and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.

Any photo tripod would work if you can attach the tube. Toys R us do not provide any instruction manual, and they do not sell parts.

We receive the most complaints on this brand. It is really a TOY telescope. Sorry.

This is a small 60mm refractor a very simple telescope. Not much bigger than a pair of 10x50mm binoculars.

Objects in the night sky are very tiny and many are very dim. You must learn the night sky. Buy several good books like "turn Left at Orion", or "Nightwatch".

Someone in my household took out the lenses/prisms for the telescope, do you know what way they go together. Thank you

The glass lens should screw back into the front of the tube. What you are calling a prism is actually called a diagonal. It goes in the back of the tube, and the eyepieces go into the diagonal.

Instructions?

The little tube is the FINDER scope which you line up with the main tube and use to POINT the telescope.

You have a simple refractor. Read these:

These are sold by Toys R US. Good luck with the scope, but it is one of the ones with many bad reports.

You will not find a manual for that REFLECTOR. However they all assemble and are used in a similar fashion.

Meade has all of their manuals on the web site listed below. Look under the 4.5 inch REFLECTOR header for one that is similar to your telescope; and read my TIPS on my profile page.

I also bought one & have no idea how the lenses should work...

Verify that the mirrors are aligned; look through the eyepiece holder (without an eyepiece) and you should see the main mirror with your eye looking back from the center. Ensure that there are no filters on the eyepiece, and use the lowest power one to begin (longest focal length).

Who makes twinstar telescopes and how do i find

I suggest avoiding the Twinstar line of telescopes. These are sold by Taximarketer who sells a line of disappointing scopes including the Baytronix 150/1400. It is best to avoid Ebay unless you really know your stuff.

One reason is the lack of directions-- NONE!

However Meade telescopes maintains a web site with manuals for their telescopes. Look around the page and find one similar to your scope and download the manual for free.
