Since you have deleted the D: drive content PC Restore will not be possible. If you have the windows vista CD then reformat and reinstall Windows. As you said that you have problem with windows vista, you can install Windows XP. To know more about how to reinstall and operating system go to the website www.windowsreinstall.com.

Installing Windows XP
This is generally how your format the hard disk and installWindows.
First you need a Windows XP installation CD and the product installation code,which is printed on the Windows label on the bottom of your laptop.
Boot up with the Windows installation CD start and follow the instructions toinstall Windows.
Next Delete the existing Windows partition.
Next Create a new partition.
Next format this new partition - Format the partition in NTFS not a quickformat. This will prepare the Windows for a clean install.
Next create a Username and company name (normally Home is all you need).
Further into the installation, you will be required to put in the Installationcode.During the final stages of installation you need to createan User or Users that will use this computer.When you finished installing Windows you need to install thelaptop's device drivers. You need to use a computer with Internet access todownload these drivers from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site and installthese drivers on your laptop.
Next connect a LAN cable to the LAN port from your computer to your DSL orcable modem and you need to Activate the Windows installation on the MicrosoftWEB site.
Next up need to upgrade Windows from the Microsoft WEB site including Servicepack.
Next you need to install your programs

HP dx6120 wont boot from cd rom and I want to install windows in a new haerd drive. Is this a bios problem? How do I deal with it.

Possibly a bios problem if the bios is not set to boot from a cd/dvd.
Press Delete key or F2 as soon as you switch on, or whichever key it needs to get in to the bios. Change the boot option to boot from CD/DVD first. Save settings and exit.

Some computers have a one time boot menu which lets you boot from whichever drive you like just for that time. Usually F11, F12, F2.

Been having this problem for 2 months.. computer is turned off... have been rebooting from CD in drive for 1 year... harddrive tired and cannot boot up by itself... lately cannot get to any Recovery mode,...

If you have a Windows XP CD, follow these steps.

1. Boot from the CD and start the installer
2. Choose to install onto the already formatted partition with the unbootable Windows, but opt to leave the existing filesystem and any other OSes alone. Choosing this will require you to create another folder for Windows to avoid writing over the existing installation. I usually call the new folder "WINXP."
3. Install Windows as you would normally, you'll need a Product Key but you can actually use your personal key on someone else's computer with no danger to you losing it or being accused of piracy, I'll explain this later.
4. Boot the NEW Windows XP install. Do not "Activate" or "register," you're going to be deleting this copy of Windows from the machine if all goes well.
5. Edit the BOOT.INI on the hard drive from the original installation of Windows with the corrupted HAL. This file should be in C:\ (may be hidden)

Sample BOOT.INI for XP Pro
Microsoft wrote:[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

6. Go to C:\WINXP\system32\hal.dll (where "WINXP" is the folder you installed the second copy of Windows XP) and copy it from the new Windows to C:\WINDOWS\system32\hal.dll (or wherever you installed Windows XP originally, I use "WINDOWS" but some people use strange folder names for their XP) and overwrite any file there. The new hal.dll is uncorrupt and newly regenerated. The file is specific to each machine's hardware configuration and we needed to rebuild it. The installer did that for us with the new installation.
7. Try rebooting your computer to see if you can get into your OLD Windows installation. If you can, congratulations!
8. DELETE the "WINXP" folder (or wherever you put your new Windows install).

I recently removed and replaced the same hard drive in my laptop which is an HP Pavilion 4400. I booted it up today and I get a message that says there is no operating system detected. The computer will...

Sounds like you bought your new hard drive clean with no . You simply need to put in a boot disc, such as a windows XP installation disc for example, and go through and install the operating system. Look through your CDs you got with your laptop to find a disc with a windows operating system on it, for example Windows XP Home. It may say 'press any key to boot from disc...' along the line so just press any key and you will be on your way to setting up your new system

Hope This Helps

I need to unistall windows vist xp to delete viruses and threats. I also need to reinstall windows vista xp

What you can considered to is to perform a Recovery of everything. With the cd that came when you bought your computer inserted and thats how you can recover it.
