Question about Kitchen Ranges

3 Answers

I have a gaggenau stove (gas). It is new. The trivot pot supports are placed in the space and supported by 4 metal balls. These balls are not protectewd by rubber and have scratched the surface of the stove. I have received conflicting reports. 1. This is happeneing because the balls are not smoothly finished. 2. This is normal. I find this difficult to process as this is a new stove which already is damaged and does not look new or worthy of the price i paid. Your view?

If the balls are metal finish, they have to scratch any surface that has a less harness surfaces. What you need is to put a coat to the balls. You can find in a painting store a coating for metal surfaces. I recommend an epoxy or polyurethane one.

My opinion will be to replace it ti the store where you purchased it. anyway if is not worthy of the price paid you should return it.

Can you put a Greek coffee maker on a glass top new coker

There are essentially two types of Coffee Maker, one where the water is heated by an immersion element (where the water is heated by electricity), and a Boiling Water Coffee maker, where you heat the pot on a stove top element either by gas or electric heat.

(If you hve one of the electric immersion ones, don't do what a famous comedy showed and place the coffee pot on the HOT SURFACE of the cooker.

While the first pot of coffee might get warm, the idea is to heat the water from the inside, then have the coffee brewed by the machine after.

Is there a MODEL or NAME on the BOTTOM of the maker?

Google or search for these things first and get back to this board if that does not help.

If I understand your question (sort of) , are you asking if a Metal pot can be placed on the top of an INDUCTION type cooktop, where the special rings Induce a current of electricity into the bottom of the fry-pan or Stock-type pot to boil water or fry items in oils.

I do not know if there is any special method used in Greece to make coffee. Please provide details, if you were not having a 'glass' cooktop.

After some research, a 'Greek' coffee maker or 'Bricki', is a stainless steel or copper pot used to boil the water and grinds together without any extra filtering.

So, the Original Poster needs to determine what the pot is made from (The type of metal), and the other part is what type of cooker element is underneath the 'glass' part of the stove.

The Test is if you turn on the element, and watch it, does it glow red underneath or not?

If it glows red, then the heating elements are embedded into the glass and the stove functions similar to a regular electric range.

If the 'glass' portion is black and does not glow red without a pot on the top of it, then it is an INDUCTION element, and the Inductor NEEDS a metal pot on top to induce a magnetic field to make the bottom of the pot warm up.

Based on the Size of the Pots shown in pictures, it may be too small to function in your particular cooker. A model of the cooker would help. The label is usually on the door frame to the oven or a logo or name near the contol knobs.

My 5-burner 36" gaggenau has stopped working. I

Hello.
What the problem is a part in the cooktop that opens to let gas flow to the knobs as soon as they are turned on is bad and no gas coming to surface unit burners. This a safety feature that the German goverment(where Gaggenau is made) requires that part to prevent a gas leak when cooktop is off.

What causes my pots and pans to turn black on the botom when cooking on a gas stove? Many thanks

depends on the pots. Some is because of they type of metal. The metal turns black because actual fire will turn it when it touches the medal. Others could be grease. Some dish soaps dont get all grease off the pot. Specially if you use dish washer. Try soaking them and see if they will come clean. Dawn dish soap works great or there are products you can buy just for that purpose. good luck

Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

What is the use of holes in stove pipe line.

No these are airflow holes and gas can not leak from them because they are not connected to the stoves gas line in any way!
The gas does not come out these holes! the air goes in these holes! from the draw of the gas!

I have the same issue

Hello Sandiann. First thing to do is unplug or throw the 220v breaker of the supplied AC power. For the Frigidaire or " ELECTORLUX" Pull on the control knobs to remove. Remove the nuts holding the cover in place and carefully remove. Remove the five screws holding the metal support of the controls and lift very carefully. The thermal breaker is located to the top right on the support framing. About the size of a quater with a shaft in the center. The center of the shaft has a black dot. This is the reset button. Your metal support may have a large square opening where you can see the breaker if so reset the breaker with a ball point pen by pressing the black button.
