I have spent days going over all of my connections and the work i have done and just can seem to find the problem.

  • chris leck Oct 06, 2008

The repair manual shows a 2-3 code to be a horizontal deflection failure.

  • chris leck Oct 07, 2008

Theose are the instructions i used when i repalced the ics.

    thanks

  • chris leck Oct 07, 2008

The ics i used were sanyo stk395-570 whiche were the correct ones for this model.

  • chris leck Oct 07, 2008

I am having a problem locating c396 i cannont find it in my parts list as well.

  • chris leck Oct 08, 2008

I already have both the owners manual and the repair manual.

Will the caps cause the 2-3 error code ?

  • chris leck Oct 08, 2008

will the caps cause the 2-3 error code

  • chris leck Oct 08, 2008

I have already replaced the ics.

  • chris leck Oct 08, 2008

I checked the solder job last night and all looks good.I am trying to see about the caps that were mentioned to be opn the Dm power supply board but i am not sure they were referncing a wt-46809.

  • chris leck Oct 09, 2008

I was looking at the caps and do not seem to find any that are swolled on top.

  • chris leck Oct 09, 2008

I want to say i am sorry i didnt realize that after leaving a comment i wasnt supposed to submit ofr other help.

My only problem is that for some reason most of the solutions i cannot see anymore to make sure i did all of them i kept hitting the wrong button when i left a comment.

  • chris leck Oct 10, 2008

No the tv will not power on,I get the error code by checking the light son the front.

  • chris leck Oct 11, 2008

Can you tell me how to test the vertical ic to make sure it is bad ?

    thanks

  • chris leck Oct 12, 2008

I am sorry i didnt realize that after i left a comment i wasnt suppose to repost i apologize for that.I ahve been able to figure out that i have to much voltage going out of the white wire coming out of the flyback. If i disconnect it the the tv will stay on but the crts do not power on.Again sorry for my mistake.

  • chris leck Oct 13, 2008

Do you have any ideas what may be causing the high voltage ?

    thanks

  • chris leck Oct 14, 2008

I also wanted to make sure that it is stated i am working on a wt-46809.

The vertical deflection IC if defective will cause the protection circut not to let the tv power up ,it has a thermal protection circut as well
here is the vertical deflection IC # la78045
and here is a link for the NTE equivalent part and specifications and pin layout
http://www.nteinc.com/specs/7200to7299/pdf/nte7209.pdf WARNING if you heat up any component to long or with to hot of an iron you can dammage the component and or the thermal protection circut

I suggest first looking and cheking the two fuses by the trans former they do not look like regular glass fuses but more like little resistors, these supply voltage to the convergence chip so thse fuses control the plus and the minus 24 volts to the convergence IC. , if one or both of these are blown then there may be something wrong with the chip , resistors there R8C05, R8C06, R8C13, R8C14, R8C21, R8C22, R8C29, R8C30, R8C37, R8C38, R8C45, and R8C46, solder connecting the chip pins to the board or solder connecting to another pin connection

These resistors are flameproof and are 3.9 ohm resistors@ two (2) watts. The other resistors in this convergence circuit that sometimes will burn up are labeled on the board as, R8C07, R8C15, R8C23, R8C31, R8C39, and R8C47. These resistors are also the flameproof type. The values of these resistors are 150 ohms @ three (3) watts. Also, if you have the plus and minus 24 volts on the power supply but not on the convergence IC pins numbers 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 18, check the two coils labels on the board as L8C01 and L8C02. If one or more of these cols are bad, replace C8C05, and C8C03. They are 1000uf@50 volts. If you find the fuse blown you may have to replace the covergence IC also.

Checking any IC on the board is impossible because you will just read other components that are in the circut, go thru these steps first before we move to the next area.

To check an ic you must first know the pin layout and specs

  • jason Oct 14, 2008

If the wire that is comming out of the flyback is giving the to high of voltage then the flyback needs to be replaced also if that went to the crt circut then the crt circut will need to be checked for any bad parts

where did the wire goto from the flyback?

    can you upload a picture?

  • jason Oct 14, 2008

also have you check the voltages on the flyback?

  • jason Oct 15, 2008

have you checked the voltages going to the flyback?

and have you checked the crt board for any problems?

  • jason Oct 15, 2008

also did you get the vertical deflection chip IC # la78045 ?

  • jason Oct 15, 2008

then the flyback needs to be replaced also

  • jason Oct 15, 2008

also the CRT board that the wire went to will need to be checked for dammage

You have picture on tv and error code says there is horizontal failure?

(Comment by cleck1234, posted on Oct 06, 2008 The repair manual shows a 2-3 code to be a horizontal deflection failure. )

In my opinion, some thing wrong with error code detection circuit, generating wrong or unnecessary code. Please check protection and error detection circuit in your tv.
good luck.

All the experts gave you the solution as per their experiences and you also tried your best to get it done your self.but unfortunately it was not done as u wished but your last comment to throw the unit as a scrap.you can still take it to the repair center to make it proper ,,because they will be having the all the spares required to replace and check it would be in front of them to see what problem it is having.and as per my experience and knowledge i think the problem in your tv is repairable as so many clients face such problems and get it repaired.so before making it a scrap you just give a last try to make it repaired at the repair center.it will be bit costly but not even more then half of a new tv.

thanks.

    dear,

yes, the cap can cause this error. did u checked that

    regards,

  • SALMAN NASEER Oct 12, 2008

    dear,

    perform these steps,,

    1. Unplug the TV. Avoid as many electronic devices as possible while going through this entire process. Observe proper ESD practices.

    2. Unplug cables from TV. If you have more than one input, you might want to mark these, so you're not guessing later.

    3. Remove back brown panel from TV (approximately 12 screws). Remove front speaker grill. This is attached with plastic "pop-ins". Sitting in front of the TV, pull the outside bottom of the grill on each side at the same time. The panel should pop out so you can remove it.

    4. Remove the front black panel (six or eight screws). BE CAREFUL, reach in and untie the wires from the twisties (pictured in previous posts). You will need the slack from the wires to pull out the tray. You should find yourself untying about 10 twisties.

    6. The three main cards are mounted in a tray that can slide out. Remove three-four black screws (app. 3” long) from the outside trim that holds down the tray. There is a bracket attached (triangle shaped) to the cable connection board that also needs to be removed (back of TV).

    7. There are two, small black teeth on the front of the tray under the screen. Those should be pushed up with the finger. Making sure you don't pull any of the wires too tight, work the tray out from the TV. Please go slow on this. If you feel some tension, there is a wire you did not untie.

    8. Once the tray has slid out enough to do your work, Remove the board mounting screws. There were three on the back, two on the front, and one in the middle. There is a silver box on the left on the card (approx. 5"x1"x4") that the two mounting screws needed to be removed.

    9. Remove the bracket (three screws) that press the chips to the heat sink. Remove the three screws from the heat sink that mount to the board. You should feel the board loose. If it is not, you missed a mounting screw.

    10. Pop the white cable connectors up by using a small flat screwdriver on the side with a small lip. Remove the rest of the jumpers. I found no need to label these, as they were unique in size, and/or had unique labeling on them. You may want to label them to be safe.

    11. Remove the board and do the deed. NOTE: I am about a 3 (from 1 to 10) on soldering. It is to your advantage to find a friend, coworker, neighbor, etc. who is experienced with soldering to at least help look over what you do. It was worth it for me. I replaced the chips, used transfer paste, reversed this process, and now my family is happy!! Don't forget to go into the basic operator menu and adjust the convergence.

Yes, on the main board there are several small pico fuses. They look like resistors, but with no color stripes around them. Usually they are green or tan in color. With an ohm meter, check for continuity to see if any are open. They are located somewhere near where the voltage supply cables go up to conv. board. This plug connector is identified by print on the board with a + and - voltage, I think it's 12 or 15 + and -. Anyway there are usually two small fuses that can open when conv. fails. Then you may have to converge.

You need to change the seven capacitors on the DM power supply board (inside the metal case on the left where your DTV tuner connects)They are 1000 MFD 16 VOLT capacitors and the tops are probably bulging outward because they are leaky- this is a common problem. ,the TV had to reboot itself but because of the leaky caps it never will and the green light keeps blinking. As long as you never lost power or unplugged the set the TV would of still worked.Once you change the parts and plug the set in the light will blink normaly for about a minute and when it stops blinking you can then turn on the TV.

Hi
The Error Coed means : horizonal deflection
Get a schematic and see if the set is going into high voltage shutdown or over voltage shutdown in the power supply. Measure and monitor the + and - 24 volts at start up, make sure that both are there. Let us know what you find

The 2-3 code is a short circuit. Take a look over the entire chassis several times and see what's wrong. Make sure your soldering is good and all of the plugs are in place.

Check the fuse F9A05 if its bad. Usually this is the root cause. 2-3 error code is "Short Protect Circuit" error. Also check other diodes on the board and look for cold solders or fractures on the board.

Should these not work, I strongly recommend contacting a repairman, rather than poke around for something that you are not sure of..

Hope that helps!

Also make sure that you have replaced the convergence IC's with new ones of the correct specifications. They should be STK392-110, I believe..Sanyo IC's are supposed to be good and last longer.
Lastly, replace both STK's at the same time and not just one..

    Cheers!

Once again, make sure that the convergence are of good quality. While Sanyo's STK'a are good, they are susceptible to overheating. Better buy straight from Mitsubishi. Thier IC's are superb quality and will guarantee a longer life.

    Go here:
    http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

You can get a service manual and a complete power board for cheap. They will also assist you online WHILE you are attempting your DIY, so you can real time. Unfortunately, we cannot do that here on Fixya, due to the nature of the website. We can only offer all possible troubleshooting steps and possible solutions, but you will have to do all the work :)

Well, hope that helps. I know, the current system on Fixya is a bit crappy, in hat you cannot view comments from an Expert once you've voted them out on a Premium post, which is why most Experts stop replying once you've rejected their answer, as there is nothing more in it for them. Even if they wanted to help, their comments would not be seen. I believe Fixya is working to rectify this issue, but till then, well...

Anyways, do try the link. It should help you. If all else fails, best get a repairman or simply buy a new TV!

    Cheers!
    IrishDruid.

PS - I do hope you can revise the rating to at least a "HELPFUL" as a Thanks For Trying rating is negative..Thanks in advance.

Thanks for changing the rating, much appreciated.

Don't worry if you do not see your power board listed. Just contact them and they will be able to procure the board for you. Talk with them first and verify if you do , indeed, need a new board in the first place. They will be with you online as they troubleshoot.

    Hope that helps!

hi,
Error code 2-2 indicates "Short Protect Circuit" problem in tv.
Need to check pico fuses in power supply as one or two got blown due to bad convergence chips.
Below is an exploded view of tv chassis, power supply and convergence area has been marked to give you better idea to look for pico fuses.
Unplug tv from wall socket before to repair/check any thing inside tv.

Mitsubishi tv model wt-42311, error code 2-2. what can i do?

2,2 IS short protection and 95% chance it means one of the two pico fuses that protect the convergence IC chips are bad.

This model uses two of the chips: STK-392-110 and you would have to pull the light box out to replace them safely (total parts cost will be under 30 dollars).

It involves getting at the chips and the fuses and replacing them: how much skill do you have?

The green timer light flashes when i plug in the tv, after hitting power the timer light comes on for about 4 sec then goes out. Tv does not power up, the error code it blinks is 2 blinks a pause and 2...

MODEL NUMBER WT-46809:

2,2 is the error code for short protection.

The most common reason for this is one of the 2 pico fuses that protect the convergence circuit is blown. Changing the fuses will not help! They are green in color and soldered into the middle circuit board and are F9a04 and F9a05----look like resistors but are 5 amp fuses.

99% chance if one or both are blown---you have to have someone change the STK-392-570 convergence IC'S that this set uses----the IC'S can be purchased on Ebay for under 14 dollars and the same seller sells the pico fuses 5 @ 2.95.

The best thing to do here if you or someone you know is able is to unplug the set and look for the fuses---middle board towards the back---there are 5 of them and the two closest to the back of the row are for the convergence IC----If someone checks them (like testing any other fuse) you will know--if either or both is blown--the convergence IC got them.

I have start to finish, step by step instructions and photos of the fuses etc----If you or someone you know can solder and is handy--you may be able to do the repair yourself.

If not, shops usually charge 300-400 for this kind of repair in this set.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY ADVICE or help.

Regards, SD TECH

IC's and PICOs replaced but Red Convergence is still off

There is always bias resistors very close by the ic's. You must check all of them. There value will be right on the money, if not you must replace them. You'll see them, they will all be in a row.
Let me know if I can be any further help!

Mitsubishi WS-55819 Won't turn on

If F9A04 and F9A05 are open the convergence ICs will need to be replaced as well as the two pico fuses. You will need two STK392-570 Convergence ICs and two 5 amp pico fuses. You ca get the replacement parts at the following link with free installation instructions. heres thelink.

Jim,
yes the convergence Ics are what cause the two picos to be open they are both 5 amp picos. You can get the picos, the convergence ICs and the factory service manual for your model at the following link.your model is known as the V17 chassis for service manuals and you should require two STK392-570 Convergence ICs. Heres the link they provide free instalation instructions.

I replaced the pico fuses and the convergence IC's. fuses poped right away code 22 . Further inspection of the board showed the coolant had leaked out of the center projector and fried the board. Not willing to pay $300. Passed it on to someone else
