Whirlpool front loader washing machine

Help! My washing machine is internittently running water into the machine after the load has run. So I have clean clothes but I have to run them through the drain and spin cycle to rid them of the water log syndrome. My washer also seems to be hissing, we just replaced a hose because it was about to burst but no when I put the hot water tap on...it hisses. No leaks around the machine...thank goodness.

Hi there I have a Whirlpool front loader WFS107AW and at my new house I am only allowed to make cold water washes. Therefore instead of plugging in the two hoses at the back I can only plug one in. However when I do a cycle sometimes my machine says water Tao closed even though its open and sometimes the washing comes out with a weird smell. My question is whether this machine is designed to have both hot and cold water cycles, I feel that because the other rapid not open this may be the cause of it. How can I change the settings if this is the problem? Or is it something else. FYI I had no issues with the hoses or taps at my previous address. Please help? Thank you. Julie

I would recommend you replace the water inlet valve. This is the only device between the fill hoses and the dispenser that controls the flow of water. The "hissing" noise you hear could be a defective solenoid in the valve that is staying open and allowing water to flow. Try turning the water off at the tap to see if the sound goes away. If it does...water inlet valve. Another tale-tell sign of an inlet valve leaking would be a small trickle of water running down the dispenser tube in the rubber door boot. Over a period of time, the tub will begin to fill and possibly overflow (even with the washer turned off).

You can find a replacement valve at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Dispenser Parts" heading for item number 1 (part #8181694).

Replacing the valve is simple. Just follow these steps:

1. Unplug washer, turn off water supply and remove hoses from the back of the washer.
2. Remove the top panel by removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.
3. The water inlet valve will be located at the left rear of the washer (as viewed from the front).
4. Remove the dispenser hose, electrical connections and mounting screws and the valve is removed.
5. Install new valve by following these steps in reverse order. NOTE: When reinstalling top panel, make sure you lay panel on top of washer, leaving a couple of inches of room from the front panel. Then, slide panel towards you (front of washer) so that the top panel slides into the mounting clips.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you still require assistance, or if you feel I'm wrong in my assessment, please post back and let me know.

HELP! I have a whirlpool HE3 frontload washer and it is stuck on "Control Locked". I did try holding "end of cycle" button for 3-5 sec. and I also unplugged washer for at least 30 min. as suggested with no luck. I have always repaired my owen washer/dryer with the assistance of this sight...thank you! but this one has me baffled. Any suggestions? I'd rather not pay the big bucks.

Whirlpool washing machine LA5310XPWO wont agitate -- what would cause this and how can it be repaired?

Is this a top or front loader? If it is a top loader do you hear the motor run? If you do the first thing to check is the rubber driver between the motor and the transmission. One way to chek if the motor runs is to fill it with water and put it into spin. If it pumps the water out that means the motor runs. If the rubber driver is broke (happens often) it will neither wash nor spin.

Water will not drain machine runs on wash cycle

If this is a top loader you have a bad lid switch.

If this is a front loader I suspect something is in the pump filter.
I took the time to write a tip about both and am going to include both:

Which washing machine is better front load or top load?

Front load washing machines are better than top load money wise.

One advantage of a front loading washing machine is an increased capacity. Since there is no central agitator, the horizontally-oriented drum can hold at least 20 to 30% more clothing per load. For a large family, this could mean running only three loads in a front loading washing machine compared to five in a top loader. Fewer loads often translates to savings in utility bills and water usage.

Another advantage of a front loading washing machine is less water and detergent usage. A top loading washer must use enough water to cover the highest level of the clothes. A front loading washing machine, on the other hand, only uses enough water to cover approximately the lower third of the tub at most.

Why does the washer smell like stale water when I lift the lid

Buy whirlpool affresh washer tablets. They kill the smell in front load washers. But they work great for top loaders too!!! They are only about 10 bucks and all you have to do is read the instructions on the package and run your washer through its cycle. Then your smell should go away.

Smelly drain water

I had the exact same problem and all of my clothes smelled like mildew. I switched to laundry detergent for front loaders ONLY and have eliminated this all together.
Run an empty cycle one time with 1cup of white vinegar.
Then start washing with the new detergent.

Problem with whirlpool front loader

Your water mixing valve is letting water in the machine between cycles. That is the valve that the hot and cold water hoses connect to in the back. Replace that valve to stop the water build up. Run a periodic cleaning cycle with a generous amount of white vinegar to rid the smell. Or you can buy a prduct called Affresh from a hardware store.
