Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

When my LG 32LT7 TV is recording a programme, I can't stop the recording, switch channels, or even turn off the TV ( I have to pull the plug out). The hard drive seems to seize up. Any ideas?

I had a new hard drive fitted, no good. A new control panel - it now works properly, but the sound is wrecked - third engineer visit in the morning.

SOURCE: frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature

SOURCE: LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... SOURCE: SONY Remote Control - some buttons do not work.

Usually this means the conductive contact on the back of the rubber pad has worn down and cannot connect the circuits on the remote controls main board. There are several ways to fix this.

#1 Find some conductive adhesive or paint and carefully paint the back of the button tab ( let dry completely)

#2 Rear window defogger kits are available at most reputable auto parts shops and contain a paintable adhesive which you can apply to the back of the remote control button.

#3 try super gluing a small piece of aluminum foil to the back of the button tab.

I have used all 3 and they all work good.

Try the "code search" function on the remote, in some remotes it is "push SET, then TV and CHANNEL +, then POWER to turn the tv off, if it doesn't turn off, press CHANNEL + to try another code and POWER again"

This is the 3rd LG tv to appear to have problems today on this site. If it's only a couple of months old, i don't know about Australia, but in the UK the retailer must replace the set, but after 3 months, you have to get your local LG service centre to collect it, and in past experience, they can't seem to find a fault after holding on to it for weeks and not returning e mails or calls.
