Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I have a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier that recently had the alternator replaced. This, therefore, activated the Theftlock device in the stereo. Being that I bought the car second-hand I do not have the code to unlock it. Is there any way to reset the device and have a working stereo?

I think you might have to go right to a gm dealer to have this one fixed, i wish i could help more but my cav already had the factory stereo removed by the time i got it, try checking all over the stereo for a reset button, you never know

I have had a kenwood 50wx4 stereo head unit installed in my car for about a year now and have had no problems using any function on the system. However, i recently updated the software on my ipod to newer...

I am having the exact same problem with my iPhone 3GS and the 50wx4. I upgraded to a new software version and am getting the same messages. It's very frustrating. I read on the apple forum that if you turn the iPod/iPhone off by holding down the top buttton and home button at the same time, and then plug it into your car stereo whilst still off then the 2 devices will reconfigure (the iPod should come on when you plug it into the stereo). This did not work for me but did work for some others in the forum, worth a try.

I'm trying to install my stereo and i dont know what wire is the constant power or acc power in my 93 cavalier

Hello djcarter_19,

Here is a link to the '93 Cavalier radio color code. It appears that the 12V constant is "orange" and the 12V switched (accessory) is "yellow".

Hope this helps.

Replacing factory speakers in a 2-door 97 Cavalier

Just make sure they are the same size as your stock speakers and they should just fit right in no customizing needed. For a 1997 Cavalier it's 4X6 in the front and 6X9 in the rear. Shouldn't be too hard just a couple screws and hooking up the existing wire to your new speakers.

Wire kit for a Audiovox BA200 200 Watt base tube

There are 5 wires to connect to the BA-200 for proper operation. 1. Red Wire with Fuse: Connect this wire to a source of + 12 volts which does not turn off with the ignition key. It may also be connected directly to the po~itive (+) terminal of the battery. 2. Black Wire: Secure this wire using a screw or bolt on a grounded metal surface of the vehicle. Clean-away any rust, dirt, or paint from the surface to make sure a good connection is made. 3. Blue Wire: This wire activates the BA-200 when the stereo system is turned on. Connect it to the "Power .Antenna" lead from your car stereo. If your car stereo does not have or you cannot locate the Power Antenna lead, the blue wire can be connected to a source of + 12 volts which is turned on and off with the ignition switch. In this case, the BA-200 will be activated whenever the ignition switch is turned on, whether the car stereo is on or off. 4. Green Wire: Splice this wire to the wire going to the positive (+) terminal (sometimes indicated bya red dot) of the left speaker of your stereo system. 5. G ray Wire: Splice this wire to the wire going to the positive ( + ) terminal (sometimes indicated bya red dot) of the right speaker of your stereo system. You Need to order this piece trough the manufacturer, with out this piece the sub is useless, i am guessing around $20-$30 for it
