Question about X2Gen MG19MY 19" LCD Monitor

X2GEN MW19U Does Not Power On

I bought this LCD from Ebay and it won't power. The screen just stays black and there's no light anywhere that could show there's any power. I used the power adapter on my speakers and it could power them so i feel the adapter is ok. I opened the monitor and couldn't find any burns. I'm not really an electronic person but am willing to try out ways to solve the problems. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for effort to help. I bought a digital multimeter but couldn't locate the protection element. I'm an absolute newbie in electronics although i was pretty good in physics in school. I located a power element (don't know exactly how to call it!) labelled AP1506. It has five pins. I looked up it's datasheet on the internet and measured the Vcc (Vin) against ground with the multimeter and got 6,33V. But the power adapter is supposed to supply 12V. When i measured the voltage at the power adapter itself when not connected to the monitor, it gives 12V. So i went and bought a different power adapter and low and behold the monitor powered up and is now working.

PS: On the PCB i actually saw 2 blue components with only 2 leads on each, but they were labelled C12 and C17 respectively, so i thought they were capaciors and didn't touch them. I guess i was just lucky with the power cord.

You will need a multimeter to check, there is a proteection component that may look like a transistor( but only 2 leads on it) or what might look like a small blue capacitor. also the diodes at the power circut need to be checked. also be sure that solder conections are secure in the power circut

Screen goes black but power light stays on

Hello. I had the same problem with my X2gen 19" (model MW19R)monitor. In my case, the monitor would turn off after 20 seconds or so but the blue power light would stay on as well. I had to replace a high voltage capacitor located in the backlight power supply board. There are 4 blue capacitors on the board which are identical and they are marked as 27J 3KV. Fortunately, I only had to replace one of these capacitors ( it was turning a yellowish brownish color ). Hope this helps.

X2gen MW19U Monitor Black screen but sounds like it is cycling

The monitor is on protection.

Test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Try your monitor cable connections on both your pc and into your monitor.
Make sure they are TIGHT and level.

Also, it could be your video display card is faulty or your video display drivers are corrupt.

Try setting your desktop to a lower resolution, like 800x600 and see it that helps.

The only way to adjust the tilt on these monitors is to loosen the screws that attach the stand to the monitor. We had to completely remove the stand from the monitor to get to these stand screws.
