My Viewsonic 2235 monitor only shows the desktop top on 70% of the upper screen. It was fine and I ran Paretologic. When I rebooted, the screen images are egg shaped or stretched out side to side. ...

If you have an Auto Adjust option on your monitor, press that and it should adjust the screen to the correct size.
The button should be on the panel or it might be a setting in the monitor settings itself.

Hope that helps

Nothing is wrong with the system but my monitor keeps flashing "controls locked" "controls unlocked" what is the problem?

Sounds like the logic board is acting up.
Has it been dropped or hit or got wet ?
DO you know if eztilt software was ever used on it ?
It may be just a weak connection on the ribbon that connects to the touch power button board (not a very good system)
It would have to be opened up to check that.

The power board tends to fail on these an should e looked at while it's open. The main video board tends to have 1 or 2 voltage regulators that fail. (there is a slight chance one may be causing this but I haven't seen that result yet)

Some opening info:
remove the stand (2 screws)
Take the 3 screws out of the bottom rear edge (these hold the front trim),and the 4 big black ones at the middle of the back
the the trim then unsnaps. {Be aware of the small ribbon to the power button board on the right edge} Start at the bottom and release the trim usually by gripping it on the lcd screen side with your fingertips and pulling outward, then work your way up each side from the back where the front trim meets the rear case. Work from the bottom to the top (a pocket knife or thin putty knife will help release the catches) You can also sharpen the edge of a credit card-(plastic is a little safer)
Then unsnap the top edge (rocking it while lifting helps)
Disconnect the ribbon, (Tiny latch lifts up on a hinge and ribbon slides out)
Once trim is off, remove the 4 corner screws that hold the screen in. Then the screen will lift out with all the guts. You may have to use a screwdriver like a crowbar in the corners to start the screen to lift up.
You’ll then have to remove a bunch of screws including the speaker ones and the usb board ones and unplug the bulbs and wire to the screen
then the inverter is under the center area under the metal cover
Shout if you need more info.
If you email me a good picture of the inverter , I may be able to get a better idea if it is the inverter from a visual.
Thanks Fran

I have a black border on top of my screen

There are two things which could have caused this. One, the Monitor settings have changed or the computers display settings have changed.

1. Resetting the monitor to default.
Push the 'MENU' button to open the OnScreedDisplay system and display the main features menu. Push the - and + buttons to move between the function icons
Use the buttons to highlight 'Factory Reset' (this returns the settings to the factory preset values for the selected group of functions)
Detailed instruction available at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E153fpb/En/controls.htm

2. Checking the desktop display settings.
Right click on the desktop and select properties, click on settings and make sure screen resolution is set to one of the following 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768. These are the only ones supported by the monitor

If both this fails. Then the monitor is nearing end of life

Need manual for nokia 447za computer monitor

It sounds like the edges of the video displayed are looking like they are curved in/out? I'm racking my brain trying to remember the terms used on CRT monitors and all I can come up with is elliptical? It has been awhile since I have messed with one. In any event, start pressing the buttons on the display working from left to right. You should hit the Main Menu right away. Generally speaking, there should be a factory reset function as a last choice. If you see that, highlight it and hit the accept button (it's the one you pressed to get to that screen). In the event you don't come across that, look for a Positioning choice and enter that screen. Your choices are generally a + or - for each setting. Press away on each choice increasing or decreasing until you find the correct settings you're looking for. If you're unsure of how to get out of a choice, do nothing for a few seconds and the screen will default back. Let me know if I need to clarify anything or you need a little more help. Grandkids are pesky but I've always found them worth it!

Onscreen controls don't respond

You have five buttons at thee right-hand bottom of your screen (just under thee edge). They are (from
left to right) the Main Menu button, the Down button, the Up button, the Input button and the Power
button (under the light).

To adjust your screen press the main menu button. Once the main menu screen is up, toggle
through it using the Up/Down buttons. Once you see what you want to adjust, move over to the
right side of the menu by pressing the Input button. Now use your Up/Down buttons to highlight
what you want to change. Once it is highlighted, press the "Input" button again. Now use the
Up/Down buttons to adjust your settings.

Once you have adjusted the settings, simply press the main menu button to exit.

Display is off-center

Try the Auto adjust button on the monitor buttons first.
If the entire picture of the computer is showing you can try to shift and stretch the picture through the menu button.

Compaq Monitor Model 7600

There are usually controls, button or knobs, to "Stretch" "Move" "Pincusion" and others... have you tried this, as this is what it "Sounds" like to me from ya description? If there are NO controls on the front to accomplish this task, at the REAR of the unit there should be controls marked to show the function. Below is a link where ya will find a Manual that may help ya. http://www.retrevo.com/s/HP-7600-Monitors-review-manual/id/281ci552/t/1-2/

Screen Adjustment

On your monitor at the bottom there is 3 buttons. The one all the way to the left is the "menu" button. The next one (going right) is the "NEGATIVE" button. The next one (going right) is the "POSITIVE" button.

You can move your screen around. First, start by pressing the menu button. Then, a menu in blue, with a bunch of little white icons will appear. Next, go over two icons by pressing the positive button twice. Then, proceed to push in the "menu" button again. A bar will appear. By pressing your negative button, your screen will move left. Pressing your positive button will make your screen move right. Adjust your screen until the black on both sides are of even proportion. Then, press the menu button to return to the orginal menu you started at. Proceed to press your positive button two more times. Then, press your menu button. Then, once again, use your positive button, and your negative button to adjust your screen to even out the black on the top and bottom.
