1 Answer

Navigating issue My word 2007 works well -except when I try to open a files in a directory which causes me to use the "drop-down" menu...upon clicking the "drop-down" arrow I get a "splash screen" which says, "Initializing Root Folders"...this actually seems like it is working to index the drive. Then when the drop down finally activates---and I change directories---the screen goes "dead"....that is, the computer is not frozen - but I cannot choose a folder or file....This is very frustrating...

Dear jwatts,
This is a problem related with the mapped network drive on your computer. At least one of them is either disconnected or awaiting credentials. If you reconnect or disconnect it altogether, this problem will go away.

or else,you try this,

Right-click on the my computer icon on the windows desktop,
left-click on disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Windows run doesn't keep my work history

you have to physically save any work
save the history to a usb drive in case you have computer failure

Plug the flash drive into your computer's rectangular-shaped USB drive.

Wait for Windows to recognize the system.

Windows operating systems use "plug and play" technology, which means that computer peripherals like USB flash drives can be recognized instantly by the system without further need for device configuration.

Open the drive on your computer.

Open the "My Computer" directory if using Windows XP or the "Computer" directory if using

Windows 7 or Vista. Locate the flash drive letter and icon under the section named "Devices with Removable Storage." Double-click the flash drive icon to open it.

Transfer files to the flash drive.

Click the "Restore" button in the top-right corner of the "Computer" or "My Computer" directory to shrink the window so that you can view your computer's desktop background.

Open the folders or locations of the files which you want to save to the flash drive.

Click and drag with your mouse each of the files and folders you want to save to the flash drive over to the empty space in the "My Computer" or "Computer" window.

Release the mouse button to let the files "drop."

Close the windows and directory locations when finished.

Save files directly onto the flash drive. From an open file (i.e. text, spreadsheet, image files. etc.), click the "File" menu and "Save as" option.

Select the "My Computer" or "Computer" directory in the drop-down menu at the top of the "Save As" box. Double-click the flash drive letter under the "Devices with Removable Storage" section.

Click the "Save" button to save the file onto the flash drive.

Close the windows and files when finished

hope this helps

I have a Coby MP620. It says to drag and drop files to the music.dir folder but I have no such folder. I have the movie, photo and text files but no music. I have no idea what to do next.

When your MP3 Player is connected to a computer, you may transfer music files to your MP3 player using your operating system's basic file management commands (i.e., copy-and-paste or drag-and-drop).Connect the Coby MP3 player to your computer through its USB adapter. Select "Open folder to view files" from the new device dialog box that pops up. If the new device dialog does not appear upon the hardware's connection, click "Start," click "My Computer" and right-click the Coby MP3 player's device icon in Windows Explorer .Click "Start," click "My Music" and open the folder containing the music you wish to transfer onto the Coby MP3 player. Drag and drop the music files or folders into the Coby MP3 player's open directory. Alternatively, you can highlight the music files or folders and click the "Copy the selected" link from the Files and Folders Tasks menu in the left column. Select the "Removable Disk" drive from the list of destinations.

How do you save a document on microsoft 2007

At the top left hand side of the open MS Word application you should see the Office button (big and round with the Office 2007 logo) click on that and the select the Save or Save As option in order to assign a file name to your document and select where the application saves it onto your hard drive. The default is the My Documents directory but you can change this if you want to by navigating to different folders on the left hand side of the Save As option window.

How can i convert ms office 2007 to 2003 without using a converter?

I assume you are trying to convert a file into Office 2003. When you open a file in 2007, simply use the Save As... menu selection. When the window comes up click the drop down menu and choose Office 2003 file. It will then give your file the standard .doc, .ppt, .xls, etc. extension.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Works to Word

Greetings, JGregg7937, and welcome to

This is a fairly common and confusing problem. When you open up MSWord and you click open, I'm sure you can't find your files. Well, this is caused because Word, by default, looks for word's own little files. However, the two are very compatible. Click Open, or File>Open if you will, and click the drop down menu that says File Type and click all files (or you can simply type *.* in the file name slot). Go to the directory in which the file is saved and click open.

I hope that worked out for ya and let me know if it didn't.

Claris Draw v1.0v3 will not start with XP

I found that Draw runs on XP but I have to tell it each time it opens where to find the CLARIS folder, and when it does run it won't respond to the OPEN menu item. I can still open files though by clicking on the file to open, but it's pretty inconvenient. Looks like I'm going to have to run the program on my old pre-XP windows machine.
