Question about Jazz DV-171 Camcorder

1 Answer

Playback from SD card.

Does anyone know what format files have to be in for this camcorder to see them and then play them back?

I've tried different formats but it just won't detect them. Or it will detect mp4 but just turned off upon play back.

It won't detect jpg files on the card either.

I'm sure I am doing something wrong or there is something wrong with the device itself.

Also, my dvd drive didn't like the disc that came with the camcorder (but my dvd player connected to the tv will detect folders on the disc. Gah!

My problem isn't playback on the PC but playback on the camera itself.

Not of recorded movies, but of downloaded movies in wmv, avi, mp4, via the SD card.

The manual says that it will play mpeg4 movies (and records in that format) but I recorded a few seconds and it's an avi file.

Also, it saves photos as jpg files, but won't read jpg files from the SD card.

Try www.divx.com. There probably mpeg4 file in divx encoded format. You can download the plugins and decoders for free to test them.

I've bought 2 different Sd cards for my camera, and when I put them in, my camera locks up. It works fine without the Sd card.

New memory cards are to be formatted before its use.So please format the card in the camcorder itself as described in the User manual and then you can use it as usual. Please don't forget to rate me if satisfied.Good Luck

Can't play back videos on my experna; memory card Sandisk class 4 8Gb. Have a canon Vixia HFR10 camcorder

Okay, ours is a different brand (JVC) but they may have some basic similarities in function. To playback video clips stored on the memory card, put the memory card in the card reader slot of the computer and put the files onto the computer. Playback the clips from your computer video or photo file. (Ours won't playback video stored on the memory card through the camera.)

To playback video clips stored on the camera hard drive through the camera, we open the viewer screen, look at the function keys on the camera body, select the "Play" button. On the screen it displays thumbnails of the various video clips. We use the toggle/function key to select from the menu containing options for playback, edit, delete, protect, etc.

Playback on camcorder

Hi,

Have you tried to play the video files through your PC?

With the SD card inserted into a card reader, i woul dsuggest you right click on the '?' files and click 'properties' and look for the file type as it has obviously changed.

When you find the file type, you will need to download the appropriate software to view it.

I know that VLC media player (google it, free software) id an excellent media player and supports many formats.

I hope this helps a little.

I recorded a video on my samsung sc-dc 164 camcorder and i used my SD memory card instead of the disc. when i try to play my video from the SD card recording it won't play but can only hear audio from my...

how did you transfer the video from the card to your PC?

did you connect the camcorder to your PC or did you use a memory card reader?

if you can play the audio then what you need is the right video codec for the unit
try searching for video codecs through search engines

make sure that the software that you are using to play the video plays the file format of your video,

try using roxio, then connect the camcorder to your computer via USB, make sure that the drivers are installed, play the video through your camcorder then use roxio to capture it real time instead of the usual "copy-paste"

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Need to delete memory

You need to remove the memory card from the camcorder and place it into a pc or photo shops computer. This will allow you to view the saved items on the memory card. You can then save these to disc and delete the contents on the card.

SD card

you can try some data recovery software. You can see
recover files from sd card
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use sd card recovery software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

Panasonic SD Card reading problem

Yes. The device was not using a standard file system. There usually is no cure. Try this. Format the card in the device and try one more time. Many don't know to perform this step.
